Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour in Small Group

2. Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour in Small Group

Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how you're going to spend the day, you will be ready to set off to the west towards Positano. The route will take you along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving you the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast. You will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters and into grottoes. Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, you will get close to the Saint Andrew Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea). Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, you will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it. A little later you will cruise in front of the ancient fishing village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach. From here you will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns. It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!). Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini you will enter its western basin, where you will have a beautiful view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks. Further inside this basin we will find the little Runghetiello Grotto and its tiny beach, where you will anchor for a break to go swimming or snorkeling. You will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high. Navigating a little farther onward to the village of Praiano you will be able to have a close look at a bigger sea cave, the Africana Grotto, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light. Finally you will go round Capo Sottile and continue cruising to Positano, where you will have another break for snorkeling at a beach reachable only by the sea and so not crowded at all: La Porta. The return trip to Amalfi will give you a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.

From Capri: Amalfi Coast Boat Tour

7. From Capri: Amalfi Coast Boat Tour

The captain will pick you up in Capri at the tourist port and cruise across the Bay of Naples and into the Gulf of Salerno, towards the Amalfi Coast. You will see the private villas and coves of Sorrento on one side and the island of Capri on the other side with Naples and Mt. Vesuvius behind you. The views are spectacular.  You will see:  - Nerano: A small fishing village on the Amalfi Coast and home of the "Blue Flag" which is awarded to various beaches under strict criteria, signifying and boasting high quality and cleanliness of the sea.    - Positano: The view of Positano from the sea is one of the most famous views in the world. Cruise along the coastline and pass the world-renowned 5 star San Pietro Hotel, small hidden coves and beaches where you can stop for a swim off the boat if you would like.  - Furore: Here you will pass a wonderful little turquoise fjord with a bridge where a diving competition is held every year. It is also the location where Roberto Rossellini filmed "Amore" beside Anna Magnani.  - Amalfi: The most famous town on the Amalfi Coast, a bustling village with a beautiful cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew and home to lovely hotels, shops, restaurants and a historic paper mill/ museum which produces organic paper.  One of the best parts about chartering a boat is that the captain is a local of the area.  Although he is not a tour guide, feel free to ask him about the coastline and he will be more than happy to offer some information about what you are seeing as well as insider tips regarding the best things to do. This will allow you to experience the Amalfi Coast through the eyes of a local rather than a tourist.  The service is simple and high quality so relax on the sundeck, enjoy the views, stop to swim in the various bays and enjoy local snacks and beverages that are provided on board. The captain can stop at any of the above villages so that if preferred, you can have the opportunity to visit them at your leisure. I also suggest stopping for a seaside lunch, as this is a culinary paradise of Italy, serving fresh seafood, pasta and more. Your captain or I can provide you with some delicious restaurant suggestions where the boat can pull directly up.

Floating in the Mediterranean Sea, away from the posh hotels, crowded restaurants and buzzing boutiques, is where you can embark on a 2-hour excursion to take in the amazing Amalfi Coast sunset, while you lounge on the deck, munch on snacks and sip a cool beverage. This excursion cruises you into the sunset scene of the coastline - a quiet and relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy the sights, salty sea air and bright colors. The captain will pick you up from the village of your choice on the coastline (Maiori, Minori, Amalfi, Praiano, Positano or any village in between) and take you along the coast, stopping to swim if you would like to along the way. You will cruise in the direction of the Isle of Capri, stopping at Li Galli private islands and underwater nature reserve. This is one of the best places for a first-class view of both Positano and the sun setting behind Capri.  Floating on a boat in total comfort, it's hard not to be inspired. Where the villages climb up the mountainside, the colors of the sunset reflect off of the Mediterranean Sea, music plays on the stereo and fish (and dolphins if you're lucky) jump every so often around the boat.  It's an evening not to be missed.

The Amalfi coast is beautiful, but it's best experienced by boat. My wife and I were visiting for our honeymoon and had the best time meeting new friends from around the world. Rafa was a fantastic guide, he took us town by town from Amalfi to Positano exploring highlights both natural and built. Rafa's experience in the area really showed as he described local features like grottos, famous businesses and hotels. The two stops for swimming and snorkeling were a great way to break up the boat tour. We enjoyed food and snacks along the way. I can't recommend this tour enough! Support a local and his new business while getting to know the Amalfi coast!

It was a nice trip with few people (5). Rafael the tour guide and captain of the boat, he did a fantastic job in explaining the essence of important locations along the trip. And also provided refreshments throught the trip. Worth for the money.

The whole experience was a blast. Raphael did a great job and was very informative. He was laid back and just fun to be around.

Well organised & kept us informed quickly when it had to be rescheduled due to bad weather. Good value for money

Great day trip with a very nice and helpful crew. Always my pleasure
