What people are saying about Province of Catania

First time for my friend (25 years old smoker) and myself (24 years old non-smoker). Very accessible route if you know how to put one foot in front of the other. Remember to take into account your physical (respiratory, etc.) and mental (dizziness, etc.) abilities so as not to penalize the rest of the group in their experience. Thanks in advance. Alessandro the guide was very pleasant, funny and professional. Answers to questions. Anecdotes that make the car journey go by very quickly. Leaves us a little freedom to have fun and enjoy the snow. We were only 7 that time. Many thanks to him. Very good support from start to finish. No complaints. Very nice experience to do and which would be regrettable not to do. Looking forward to coming back for a higher altitude!

Gaetano (not sure if I spelled that correctly) was a great guide. He made the tour interactive and showed us different types of volcanic rock, right on the hike. I’d recommend the hike to those who walk or hike regularly, but you don’t have to be an athlete to walk everywhere. Definitely bring trekking or hiking shoes! Once you drive up to where you will be hiking, you will stop at a tourist area with cafes and restrooms. Note: the tasting is more like a “tasting”. You don’t stop anywhere official to sample various Sicilian snacks. We got a chance to try some local honeys at a food kiosk (not sure how else to describe it), so that was nice. If you’re looking to sit down and sample lots of Sicilian food, this is not the tour for you.

Gaetano was a great host for the tour. Kept the whole trip loose and fun! He had a lot of information to share about the various towns we passed on the way up. And of course about the mountain, the eruptions and changes it went through as well as how it changed the landscape, and Sicili as a whole. At each stop we got a bit of time to explore at our own leisure too. Before our descent we got a little cup of wine and a few bags of cantuccini to try while taking in the breathtaking views. The hike itself was mostly easy, though partially steep and on uneven ground. Good shoes are necessary! The only downside was that we didn't really want to leave

Teresa was a lovely guide. She shared lots of facts and stories about Syracusa and Noto. We started by stopping at the archaeological park for about 1.5 hours which was just enough time to walk through the whole park. In January 2023, the “tomb of Archimedes” (not that actual tomb) was closed. We then drove to Syracusa and walked to the island of Ortygia. We ate lunch there and later traveled to Noto. Incredible views, plenty of photo opportunities. Highly recommend buying something from the food market in Ortygia.

The tour was great! Kids loved! Marco is fantastic!
