What people are saying about Province of Catania

4th. October 2022. Excellent tour and driver/guide (Carlos). The Valley of the Temples is fascinating and the Temple of Concordia awe inspiring. This tour allows time for only a taste of the site but is well worth it, leaving me wanting to return and explore for longer. While we were travelling to the sites, Carlos explained the historical and cultural context of what we were going to see in great depth and with passion and humour. He did not accompany us into the sites: I found this approach ideal for me. Instead of going at the pace dictated by a guide, I was able to linger where I wanted and my imagination was free to wander. The Villa Romana del Casale is fabulous. It is alive in a way that some historical sites are not because so much is left intact. It is almost possible to see and hear the people going about their lives and to watch the craftsmen laying the superb mosaics. It is truly ‘not to be missed’. Sicily Day by Day are the best. Grazie mille Carlos.

The mosaics in the ruins of the Roman Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina are truly beautiful and give you a glimpse into Roman life centuries ago. The information about the mosaics is informative, but not overwhelming. The raised walkway leads you through through the villa, so that you're looking at the mosaics from above. Luckily, the complex is covered to protect this Sicilian history from the elements (and you from the summer heat). After our visit here, we went to a restaurant in nearby Piazza Armerina for a wonderful lunch with delicious Sicilian food and wine. The next stage fo the day-trip was at the Valley of the Temples. The area is pretty extensive, and it also offers breathtaking views of the coast. There are informative plaques at each temple (or ruins of one that once stood there), but you also have the option to get an audio guide when you buy your ticket. It's a long day to visit both locations, but it's totally worth it.

Our driver gave incredible history and background while enroute to the Valley of Temples. He then gave advice on what to see and how to pace ourselves for time. On arrival we explored at our own pace by ourselves. He was very good, knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. It was a long day and money well spent.

Great tour! Everything ran smoothly and on time. Great picnic lunch with local food and wine. Both Unesco sites are a must see!

Loved it. Loved our driver and organizer too. The lunch was delicious. Well planned and executed.
