4. Puerto Madryn: Scuba Dive or Snorkeling with Sea Lions

Meet your local guide and depart to the Punta Loma Natural Reserve, the oldest natural reserve in the Valdes Peninsula. This is the only spot in the area that hosts a colony of 700 sea lions all year round. Dive into the teal-colored water just below the white cliffs that are home to hundreds of black cormorants. You’ll sail for 30 minutes in the waters of Golfo Nuevo to reach the dive departure point. After the technical and safety talk, get into the water with a group of up to 6 people to start an easy dive. Sea lions are really curious creatures, and almost never reluctant to play with new visitors. You’ll be able to explore the area for 45 about minutes and get closer to these furry friends, and then get ready to discover other kinds of fauna and marine vegetation. If you have no experience in scuba diving, you can do some snorkeling on the water’s surface where sea lions will also approach. Your tour guide will assist you along the way. At the end of the day, enjoy facturas (classic Argentine pastries) before sailing back to Puerto Madryn.

What people are saying about Puerto Madryn

Great experience. Staff professional and knowledgeable. Lucian was the guide I spent the most time with and he was amazing.he demonstrates a love and respect of the ocean. He attended to every detail including helping the children and anxious passengers. The entire trip was great. The staff at the dive shop help you with your gear and explain everything. They seem to like their job which is rare these days. I can't find enough words to describe what a once in a lifetime experience it was to have a sea lion look you in the eye or touch your leg everyone needs to book with this company. I dive/snorkel around the world. This company and its employees are the real deal. Thank you for a great experience !!

The experience was great! The time in the water flew by and we really enjoyed the company of the curious sea lions! With a thick wetsuit we had enough warmth and could enjoy the experience to the fullest.

We had an amazing day packed with wildlife. Guide Marcela and driver Diego were professional and knowledgeable. The day was very well organised. Comfortable transport.

One of the greatest things ever. Can't recommend enough. Only complaint is that the tour is supposed to be 3 hours and it lasts like 2

The entire excursion was excellent. A unique experience. Catalina a luxury guide. More than recommended.
