You will be introduced to the local waterfall guides and provided with a life jacket, water shoes, and helmet. If you want to take photos on the tour please only bring waterproof cameras. A moderate 45-minute uphill hike through a beautiful jungle landscape gets you to the 12th waterfall. From there you head back downriver and you jump, slide, and swim your way through a series of spectacular waterfalls, canyons, and pools. This half-day horseback excursion includes approximately 2 hours of riding throughout the mountain range just above Puerto Plata. Approximately 1000 ft above the city, there are breathtaking views over the Bay of Silver where, centuries ago, Columbus arrived by ship. Firstly, you will travel by safari truck to the old mountain road which slowly climbs up the mountains, dotted with small local farms and amber and larimar mines.
