Enjoy a boat trip on Lake Titicaca and visit the floating islands of Uros. The inhabitants of the lake are referred to as the Water Tribe and have built their own islands with a local type of sugarcane. Their homes and boats are also made from this material. The next stop is Taquile Island, inhabited by Quechua speakers who have developed unique and effective social systems and hand-weaving techniques. Stop for a typical lunch in the village of Taquile. Take a walk through the hills and archaeological sites of this 6-kilometer-long island before returning to Puno by boat.

Depart from Puno on the first day of the tour and head to the floating islands of Uros and marvel at the stunning scenery all around. Next, enjoy a 3-hour motorboat journey to the Amantani island and see local families running down the hill to welcome you. Meet your designated host family and immerse yourself in their traditional culture and way of life. Enjoy a typical lunch with the family made from natural local products and participate in intercultural activities until dinner time. After dinner, watch a traditional show with your family before spending the night at their home. On day two of the tour start with an early breakfast with your host family. After an emotional goodbye, it's time to depart to Taquile Island a traditional Quechua speaking community, located at the heart of the Lake Titicaca. Admire the beautiful harbor of Taquile and then walk up along a narrow path to the center of the island. Along the walk, gaze upon the breathtaking natural landscapes including the nearby Bolivian mountain range. Once you arrive at the top of the hike, listen to your local guide share stories and anecdotes about traditional life on Taquile. Later on, enjoy some free time to wander around and explore then relax at a local restaurant for lunch. Finally, descend to the harbor and hop aboard the boat back to Puno.

Embark on an adventure-filled 2-day tour of the Lake Titicaca area. Discover some of the highlights located in and around Puno, Uros, Taquile, and Cusco, stopping with plenty of time to soak up the local flair and experience the key attractions. Stay overnight in Puno and savor some tasty local cuisine along the way. Day 1: Cusco to Puno with stops Get picked up from your hotel and head to the tourist bus station for Puno. During the trip, enjoy a suite of exciting stops at different tourist centers and attractions. Begin with a 35-minute tour of the Temple of Andahuaylillas Sistine Chapel of America and prepare to be amazed. Later, explore the Archaeological Complex of Raqchi, before arriving at Sicuani where you can sit for a buffet lunch in the restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the pretty Paso la Raya, hemmed in by snow-capped mountains. Explore the Pucara Lithic Museum. Check in to your hotel in Puno. Day 2: Puno, Uros, Taquile, Cusco Your second day will start early with hotel pickup and transfer to the Port of Puno. Board your boat and head to Uros where you will participate in a cultural demonstration that will allow you to discover the Uros way of life. Visit the Taquile Islands and get to know the local culture. Take a lovely 1-hour walk packed with amazing photo opportunities. Break for lunch in the afternoon at a restaurant in town, where you can sample local favorites like quinoa soup or fresh fried fish from the lake. Return to the main port of Taquile and then to your hotel in Puno in the late afternoon to have dinner on your own. Get picked up and driven to the bus station in Puno. The bus will leave for Cusco at 10:00 PM and arrive at 5:00 AM the next morning. You can then take a taxi back to your hotel.

Your tour will begin between 6:00AM and 7:00AM, at which point you will transfer from your Central Puno hotel to the port. You will then travel by motor boat (which is 35 feet long with a covered section in case of rain or cold weather) to the Uros floating islands. Stepping on these islands feels very much like being on a water bed, but is completely safe. You will see houses and many islands, as you meet the friendly local inhabitants who are descendants of one of the oldest South American groups. Rides on traditional reed boats can be arranged, and you will visit two of the 60 islands before continuing on to Taquile Island. Following a relaxed 2.5-hour navigation, you will get the chance to enjoy the spectacular views offered by Lake Titicaca. Once there, you will discover a unique community, before a long gradually ascending path takes you to the village. You can visit the communal cooperative where you will find handicraft textiles of high quality, before you eventually depart back to Puno City at 2:30PM. At 5:30PM you will arrive to Puno, at which point you will be taken back to your hotel.

The tour begins with pickup from selected hotels in Puno and heads to the port where your speedboat adventure begins. Board your boat for the day and then head out on the water to discover the array of floating islands, populated by the ancestral Uros society. The people have built their homes upon the artificial islands on Titicaca lake which are made from a type of reed, the Totora plant. As you sail around the islands, learn about the history, culture and traditions of the Uros people, and how their fascinating way of life thrives even in the modern day. Then continue onto the island of Taquile, once part of the Inca Empire, where the remains of this incredible culture are still visible. On Taquile island, meet the locals and witness first-hand their culture and traditions. Watch a unique craft demonstration, and learn how the community thrives from their skills. Finally, enjoy a traditional and tasty lunch before returning to Puno.
