Depart Puno and journey to the floating islands of the Uros people on Lake Titicaca. Find out about how these islands are created by the locals using bundles of dried totora reeds. Learn the history of the area and interact with the locals to hear more about their life out on the water. Then, cruise over to Taquile Island in the largest part of Lake Titicaca. Experience life on the lake up close and get some stunning views of the Andes Mountains as a bonus.  Hear about the inhabitants of Taquile Island and how they descended from the Inca people to mostly work as farmers and weavers, and how they have inherited some distinct Inca traditions. Go for a medium-level hike on the island, known for its handwoven art and collective farms, and enjoy a lunch of local produce served in a local restaurant. Then, return to Puno city on the shore of the lake for the end of the tour services.

You’ll be picked up at your Puno accommodation at the beginning of this full-day excursion to Lake Titicaca. An English-speaking guide will accompany you as you travel to the lake’s islands of Uros and Taquille. Uros is a group of islands whose buildings are made entirely of tortora reeds. It is home to a small community that dates back to pre-Inca times. Spend some time with the local residents before continuing on to Taquile – an island whose culture is more closely related to that of the Aymara people of Bolivia. You’ll enjoy a locally prepared lunch on the island before visiting the local cooperative and seeing first-hand the skill of the local weavers. Return to Puno and to your lodge after a unique look at the cultures of these islands.

Enjoy a boat trip on Lake Titicaca and visit the floating islands of Uros. The inhabitants of the lake are referred to as the Water Tribe and have built their own islands with a local type of sugarcane. Their homes and boats are also made from this material. The next stop is Taquile Island, inhabited by Quechua speakers who have developed unique and effective social systems and hand-weaving techniques. Stop for a typical lunch in the village of Taquile. Take a walk through the hills and archaeological sites of this 6-kilometer-long island before returning to Puno by boat.

Discover the islands of Lake Titicaca on this 2-day tour from Puno. Spend the night at a homestay on Amantani Island and learn about local traditions. Day 1: Uros Islands and Amantani Head to the legendary floating reed islands by motorboat. On Amantani Island the tour breaks into smaller groups for stays with local families. Trek to the top of the mountain to see the Temples of the Pachamama and Pachatata. Authentic food will be prepared and music performed by your designated family. Meet your designated host family and immerse yourself in their traditional culture and way of life. Enjoy a typical lunch with the family made from natural local products and participate in intercultural activities until dinner time. After dinner, watch a traditional show with your family before spending the night at their home. On day two of the tour start with an early breakfast with your host family. After an emotional goodbye, it's time to depart to Taquile Island a traditional Quechua speaking community, located at the heart of the Lake Titicaca. Admire the beautiful harbor of Taquile and then walk up along a narrow path to the center of the island. Along the walk, gaze upon the breathtaking natural landscapes including the nearby Bolivian mountain range. Once you arrive at the top of the hike, listen to your local guide share stories and anecdotes about traditional life on Taquile. Later on, enjoy some free time to wander around and explore then relax at a local restaurant for lunch. Finally, descend to the harbor and hop aboard the boat back to Puno.

On this tour to the floating islands of Uros, you will be picked up from your hotel and head toward the port of Puno, where you will take a motor boat towards the famous Uros Floating Reed Islands.  Have a Spanish/ English professional guide who will show you this beautiful place, explaining the life and history of these fascinating Uros inhabitants. Your tour begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel where you will then head to Copacabana. When arriving at the border of Peru and Bolivia your passport and migration card will be checked by authorities from both countries. Once arriving in Copacabana you will visit the Sanctuary of Copacabana and then have lunch in town. In the afternoon at 1:30 PM the tour will head to Sun Island. Enjoy a 1.5 hour ride on a motor boat. Once you get to the island, stretch your legs on a 40 minute walk. See the archaeological complexes of Pilko Kaina on the shore of the island, the Chincana ruins, the Temple of the Sung, the Sacred Rock and the Table of Ceremonies. Spend time in the archaeological museum to learn more about the history of the impressive complexes. Your day tour will end with a drop-off at your hotel in Puno at 8:30 PM.

Day 1 Meet at the bus terminal in Cusco in the evening and board your overnight bus to Puno, the bus departs from Cusco at 9:30 pm. The address to the terminal is Industrial 550. Day 2 After a night on the road, arrive in Puno in the morning, around 5:30 am. Transfer to our partner hostel where you can store your luggage for free, while you go on the tour. Next, take the boat out to the Uros Islands for a guided tour of the famous floating reed islands. Cruise the highest navigable lake in the world out to the remote Island of Amantani. Enjoy a guided tour of Amantani island. Learn the traditional history, lifestyle, and cultures of the island community. Around 12:30 pm, take the boat across to the Llachon Peninsula. Lunch in the shore-side village of Llachon. Witness the seasonal activities of this rural community and enjoy some free time in one of the most picturesque hideaways on Lake Titicaca. In Puno, enjoy some free to explore the city or go for dinner at one of the many restaurants before boarding your overnight bus back to Cusco, at 9:30 pm, from our partner hostel. Day 3 Get dropped off at your hotel or hostel in Cusco in the morning.

Spend the day discovering the natural and cultural heritage of Lake Titicaca. One of the first ethnic groups in the Andean region, the Uro people built their homes and livelihoods on floating islands made from reeds. Tour the islands by boat before stopping off at Taquile to meet the locals and enjoy a traditional lunch on the lake.  The adventure starts with hotel pick up from central Puno at 7:00 AM. Drive to the shores of the lake before hopping in a boat for the 1.5-hour journey to Taquile. Ride in comfort on a fast boat with an experienced guide. Restrooms are available onboard and along the way you'll enjoy stunning views of the lake. Upon arrival at Taquile, enjoy a 1-hour walk around the island. Stop by a village to see a cultural demonstration by the locals and learn the art of Taquile textile making which was recognized by UNESCO for its intangible heritage. At 12:00 PM, a lunch of quinoa soup, fresh fish, and vegetables will be served. Enjoy the local flavors while learning about day-to-day life on the island.  After lunch, walk back to the main dock in Taquile for the return transfer. At 3:30 PM, the group arrives in Puno for hotel drop-off.
