Full description

Embark on a guided tour from Reykjavik to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon. Witness the mighty Hvannadalshnjúkur mountain and black sand desert that sprawls between Skaftafell National Park and the lagoon.

Stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the cascades to reach the other side. Continue to the majestic Skógafoss waterfall and admire the impressive 60-meter drop. Continue to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and stroll along the shores of the lake.

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the area as 1,000- to 1,500-year-old ice breaks away from the Vatnajökull glacier and floats silently on the water. Recognize locations from some of the many movies that have been filmed in the area, such as Batman Begins and Tomb Raider.

Stop at the spectacular Diamond Beach and admire the strand of black sand speckled with clumps of ice, giving an appearance of shimmering diamonds. In the warmer months, enjoy an added boat ride around the lagoon and witness the floating icebergs up-close.

This was an excellent trip, the views on the way were splendid and the commentary by our guide was very informative. We appreciated the explanation of what we were seeing from the bus window as well as the human history. We did not see any "diamonds" on the Diamond Beach as the chunks of ice had all melted away or locked up in the winter ice on the lagoon. The sight was impressive none the less.

Skaftafell National Park, Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, Fellsfjara Pick up is early and we weren’t comfortable with city buses yet so the night before we set up a taxi to take us to BSI. Easy to find which bus was ours once we got there. Our guide (I don’t remember his name) was incredible. All of the stops were perfect. We stopped twice (safely) on the way back to Reykjavik for the most stunning Northern Lights. Highly highly recommend

What a day! The tour was really worth it for me, I was able to see so much in one day. Unfortunately the bus has dark windows but that's not so bad, I was still able to look out and be mesmerized by nature on the way to the glacier. The stops for food or for the toilets were appropriate and there alone the surroundings are beautiful. I took snacks with me for the trip and got something to eat at the supermarket on the way. I booked the tour at the beginning of December, so with the lowest daylight, which is why the trip started at 7:30 in the morning and I was back at the BSI at 12:00 at night. Yes, it was very long, but I don't regret it at all, on the way back we made an extra stop to see the Northern Lights. The weather was sunny, I wouldn't have booked it if the weather was bad. The tour guide was a bit older and didn't really speak much, I found him boring. Didn't find this annoying though
