Full description

Journey through the beautiful countryside of Southern Iceland and into the highlands through Þjórsárdalur valley and visit Hjálparfoss waterfall. Depart from Reykjavik and head to the Landmannalaugar geothermal area often referred to as “The Pearl of the Central Highlands.” Landmannalaugar’s colorful mountains are formed by centuries of volcanic activity in the area and the picturesque natural landscape in this raw climate is simply breathtaking.

Enjoy a relaxing bath in a natural warm pool which was created by the combination of the area's hot and cold springs, or take a leisurely hike in the surrounding rhyolite mountain paths. Your tour continues west and past Iceland’s most infamous and active volcano, Hekla, which was believed to be the gateway to hell during the Middle Ages. After exploring Iceland's unique volcanic landscapes, return to Reykjavík over Hellisheiði Mountain heath.

The landmannalauger trip was my favourite, the mountains are beautiful, the gorge with all the waterfalls was spectacular and the natural hot spring was another highlight of my Iceland trip. I wish there was more time to hike in the mountains and swim in the spring. We had to cut our hike short as otherwise we would not have had enough time to enjoy the water. I would love to come back to visit again!

It was a beautiful day and a trip to Landmannalaugar is definitely always recommended. You can also get to know the experience of a real Icelandic road. You drive the bus on an off-road route and have to cross several rivers. The hike in the highlands and bathing in the warm spring is a real treat. Would definitely do the tour again.

I just came back from Iceland which is a magical country, not just because of the trolls! Among the excursions I made, that of the Landmar...thing (Icelandic names are impossible for me to remember) but the images stay with me. Those of this region are particularly rich in discoveries of volcanoes which form a chain of infinite beauty with incredible play of colors, lava, lakes, waterfalls. All this is won, you have to climb a little anyway to look inside the craters or simply see from above the bubbles that the soils bring out which draw basins in the middle of lands yellowed by their different chemical components earthly. Go to Iceland, Icelanders are welcoming and love to show their country. English compulsory. SZL
