I am so glad and feeling so lucky to have booked this day trip. I had an amazing experience. The place itself speaks everything. Apart from that I would say I got super lucky because I got the guide named Howser. I cannot express how glad I am to have gotten the guide like him, one of the best days in Iceland. His passion towards his country, his stories and his wisdom and wise words was tremendous. He is super funny, kept the journey Alive, an hour seemed like few minutes. Best part is , I was asking him where we can see the horses since it was my first travel to Iceland, we were not only on time, to and from , he took to so many secret and additional stops and he showed the horses on the way. It felt surreal. I have to mention this - on the way I had my jacket greased on the road because of the wind, it was no one's fault, he took an initiative to get my jacket dry cleaned and drop it back to my hostel, he's an angel! Thank you so much bus travel for the most beautiful memories.
Enjoyed the trip massively, there were incredible views throughout across a real mixture of terrain - with the opportunity to get close and personal with some of the sights. There was a lot less walking than I had anticipated but matt was very accommodating, funny and communicative, which ensured that the bus journey remained entertaining for long periods on the bus (which were broken up by frequent short stops for pictures) The sights were fantastic as we were very lucky with the weather. The food was exceptional at the lunch time rest stop for a reasonable price, and there was amble opportunity to ask questions. Additionally the bus felt very safe and secure despite very high winds on the way home.
Howser was our guide and wow! His stories and knowledge was excellent. He made the 11 hour trip go very quick and we were sad to get off the bus. Kirkjufell mountain was stunning, we would go back to Iceland just for that. Lunch stop was nicer than expected, delicious fresh fish in a great restaurant and a stop on the way back to the city for the best chocolate cake. Trip was well worth the money.
Make sure you book a Snæfellsnes Peninsula trip and if you are lucky enough to get Howser as a guide, you will have the best day in Iceland. He will show you hidden gems, he is a great driver, he is funny and he knows so many stories and sagas, you will never be bored for a minute during the 11-12 hrs tour. It was the absolute highlight of our Iceland trip, worth every penny.
That was our favorite tour in Iceland, with the most iconic landscapes and also not so crowded as the Golden Circle and the South. The tour guide Howser is an attraction apart, he knows a lot about the country and it’s stories, and we had much fun with him during those 11 hours. The stops were timed well enough to see everything and not loose time.
