Full description
Enjoy an afternoon or evening hike in Geldingadalur Valley, where lava flows from erupting volcanoes, to witness the Fagradalsfjall Volcano. Learn the history of the volcanoes of the area from your expert guide. Get picked up in Reykjavík and set out on a scenic drive surrounded by breathtaking views towards the Fagradalsfjall Volcano and Geldingadallur Valley. The Fagradalsfjall Volcano is erupting for the first time in 7,000 years. Once at the valley, put on your hiking gear and head towards the volcano to hopefully see some live lava flowing. Bring snacks along with you and enjoy them while you watch the spectacular natural show. Afterward, as you drive along the peninsula, your guide will fill you in on the history of volcanos in the area — many long-dormant, now covered by soft green lava moss.

Our experience was INCREDIBLE! This tour was the highlight of our holiday. Simon, our guide, was brilliant - very friendly, enthusiastic and approachable. He ensured that everyone had an amazing time. The volcano isn’t erupting anymore, but this made no to little difference to our experience, as the volcano hike was still amazing. The views were incredible and it was great to see the hardened lava. The other stops were all wonderful too. I have no criticisms at all - it was a brilliant day.

Make sure to dress warm!! We went in November and it was very cold and windy! It’s a lot of walking but do able (you just might be a little sore the next day if you’re out of shape like us). Being warm is the main concern! The volcano has not been active in over 6 weeks but regardless it was a great site seeing tour. So cool to see the molten rock.
