Full description
The tour begins with an introduction to the distillery and a welcome drink. Following the introduction, listen to your guide reflect upon the history of whiskey in Iceland and how it came to be produced at Eimverk distillery. Guests are encouraged to participate with questions, so don’t be afraid to interact if there’s something you want to know. After you’ve learned a bit about the history of the distillery, it’s time for the tasting to start. As you go through the products, your guide will explain and reminisce everything from the initial thought process to the current state of development of Eimverk’s spirits. When the first half of the tasting is over, head towards the distillery’s production facility. Learn about the steps of the process right from the beginning of the barley harvesting, to the delicious glass of liquor at the end. Take some photos of the fascinating production area, and then head back to the tasting room for the second half of the sampling. As you taste the spirits, listen to your guide share interesting stories and explanations about the drinks, and mingle with the other guests on the tour.

We had an amazing time at the distillery. We were both shocked by the volume of whiskeys/gin we were able to try. Previous distilleries we’ve had 3 different types each where as this distillery was 9+ per person. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

More than just a tour to taste the unique gin, whiskey and brennivín from Eimverk! It was a tour to see up close how they are produced and to learn about the history of the distillery. Rock was an exceptional guide! He explained everything with patience, good humor and even gave us a lesson about the culture and history of Iceland. Getting to the distillery by bus was also very easy and exactly as described in the tour advertisement.

The overall experience was great! You have to be willing to try alcohol that might not be what you normally drink, not what you are used. We sampled 12 different gins and whiskeys. Each with a very distinctive taste, aged in different barrels and for different times. Lots of great folklore and Icelandic cultural, and agricultural information. Definitely a learning experience! Rock, our sommelier was well versed in the alcohol distillation, process, and all sorts of other information for comparative assessment. A well done experience!
