Brilliant day hiking! There is an option to carry on the walk for those that are keen. We did this whilst others went back to the bus. We just had to be back at the carpark to meet them at 3pm. Volcano has stopped erupting now so no glowing lava, but it was a great hike to see black lava that is still steaming. Very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide who gave us chocolate at the top. Would definitely recommend this tour.

So it poured rain on the volcano hike, which was A VIBE. But it was more like being in a raincloud than anything else… our guide even said “Um… this is insane.” But was such a trooper. I needed a Gortex jacket instead of my simple rain jacket in the long run- and I was soaked through all 5 of my layers. And I honestly was the best off out of the group. I think bringing rain ponchos as backup would be a HUGE bonus for this guide company. I liked seeing the hot spots and tectonic plates, but I think we would have enjoyed things more if we weren’t all soaked to the bone. Which wasn’t any ones fault and almost everyone had a great attitude. The Blue Lagoon was AMAZING and our guide was awesome getting us in and explaining. I would say that as someone hiking on a volcano I would like to know more facts about it besides “it was national news, I am sure you saw.” And “the water is blue bc minerals.” That would have been the extra mile- but recommend this trip despite any weather!

Our guide was very fun named Michael. He was very friendly, kept us safe and talked to us the whole time. Great source of information and he made sure to check in with everyone individually to create a personal connection and make us feel included. Any introvert will feel safe and included!
