Alsace Villages Wine Route Day Trip from Strasbourg

1. Alsace Villages Wine Route Day Trip from Strasbourg

Head south departing from Strasbourg where the first stop will be in Bergheim, a superb village on the wine route that contains many hidden wonders within its medieval walls. You will then have the opportunity to visit the charming town of Ribeauvillé, the ancient fief of the Lords of Ribeaupierre. History will call out to you on every one of its pedestrian streets.  After a visit to Hunawihr and a photo stop in front of its famous fountain, enjoy lunch in the village of Riquewihr, one of the best known in the region —  particularly renowned because of its idyllic location in the heart of the vineyard. The tour will continue to two villages that are equally famous for their historical character: Kaysersberg and Eguisheim. Wine-lovers especially will appreciate the next stop at the famous Belvédère Cattin, where you can take in a stunning panoramic view of the Alsace Plain with the Black Forest in the distance. At this stop, you can also check out an art gallery and buy some Alsace wine, if you wish. Head back to Strasbourg at the end of the afternoon, after a day filled with great memories and beautiful images.

Alsace Medieval History Day Trip from Strasbourg

2. Alsace Medieval History Day Trip from Strasbourg

The tour begins with departure from Strasbourg bus station and heads to the first stop of the day, historical Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. Upon arrival, admire the building’s architecture, learn about the people who once lived here, and marvel at the castle's stunning views across the Black Forest. After the castle, the open-top bus follows the famous Alsace Wine Route, making a stop at one of the region's most well-preserved medieval villages along the way, Riquewihr. Spend some free time wandering through the village’s pictures streets, shop at a local store for a souvenir, or find a cozy restaurant for lunch. The tour continues to Kaysersberg next, to marvel at its beautiful fortified bridge nestled amongst the quaint village surroundings. Your day trip finishes with a visit to Colmar, a unique and endearing country town, for a ride on the tourist train. Please note that the tourist train doesn't run in November. Instead, there will be free time in the city.

Get into the spirit of the season and visit different Christmas markets along the wine route. Begin your tour at the Strasbourg bus station where you'll board a comfortable heated bus and receive audio guides with information for your Christmas market tour. On your first stop, explore the Riquewihr Christmas market during a one-hour visit. Gaze in awe at the illuminated monuments and buildings in this dazzling Alsatian village. After Riquewihr, head back onto the wine route and pass by numerous little Alsatian villages all beautifully decorated for the occasion until you reach the village of Kaysersberg. What people are saying about Riquewihr

A great day. Comfortable bus with panoramic sunroof, A/C, wi-fi and USB outlets to plug in your devices. Our guide was absolutely charming. The visit to the historic villages was perfect. We see several villages without getting off the bus, but we stop to take pictures and enjoy the view. We go down to the 4 main villages and that's enough. The people are friendly, and the shops are very pretty and you can buy local and typically Alsatian products there. We end the day in a magnificent vineyard where we taste some of their products.

It was an amazing day! The tour offered much more villages to be seen by the coach or walked! We usually spent 1-2 hours in each village. The audio guide was easy to follow. It was mostly about when the villages were built and conquered. Also infos on the wines. Our guide Martin was polite and friendly. The coach was so much fun to be driven around! We also did a visit in the winery Katin and had some glasses of wine there. Totally worth to do! I would do it again! The easiest way to see all these picturesque villages!

Impressive excursion, the guide Martin very friendly and making you feel relaxed and unhurried, the towns that are visited and the pace at which it is done is perfect, I would do it again.

It a very rewarding tour. It should be on all travellers list of things to do in Alsace region of France.

Well organized tour. Excellent driver. Nice overview of part of the surroundings of Strasbourg
