Assisi 3-Hour Small Group Tour & St. Francis Basilica Visit

1. Assisi 3-Hour Small Group Tour & St. Francis Basilica Visit

Explore Assisi on a 3-hour walking tour with a guide who will tell you about the history, art, and local traditions of one of the most famous hill towns of Italy. Meet your guide and head to the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheater, which was later put to use in the Middle Ages as a quarry for stone to build local houses. See how the amphitheater later was turned into a private neighborhood. From this vantage point, the view of the Rocca Maggiore medieval castle is one of the best in the city. Continuing along narrow alleys and through medieval squares you’ll reach the Cathedral of Saint Rufino Cathedral, the Basilica of Saint Claire, and Piazza del Comune, the main city square. At the square you’ll see the Minerva temple, one of the best-preserved Roman temples in Italy. It is surrounded by imposing medieval government buildings. The tour then continues on to the Saint Francis Basilica, which is well known for its 13th and 14th-century frescoes created by Italian masters of the time, including Giotto.

our guide, Francesca, was very knowledgeable in art and history. we started at Basilica of Saint Clare, walked through town to Basillica of Saint Francis. There is so much art to see in both places. She went the extra mile to see that I did not have 100's of stairs. Assisi is very hilly, lots of stairs. But the streets between these 2 churches were mild. I have never been disappointed in the tours I have purchased through Get Your Guide.

Our guide, Michele, was terrific. A great storyteller of the life of St Francis and of Asissi. English speaking if you require that and we did the small group tour which made the experience quite personal. Highly recommended.

We had en excellent guide.Michelle explained everything to us and answered to any question. He was very kind and he has huge experience for what he does. We were only 3 to this group. It worth s every cent we paid.

A very personable guide, fluent in several languages with great dedication to the city and its history, took us through Assisi in an entertaining 2.5 hours - a great experience, thank you very much!!

Assisi is full of history, charm, and beauty. As those impacted by the lives of St. Francis and St. Clare, this tour was especially grand.
