Full description

Discover Rome's Catacombs on a guided tour to the Capuchin Museum and the Capuchin Crypt which is known as the Bone Chapel. Hear about the macabre side of the city as your guide shares fun facts and chilling history with you on this tour.

Beneath the sunbaked streets of Rome lie cool, shadowed spaces that hide layer upon layer of history. Beat the heat with air-conditioned travel and access directly down into three different, but equally fascinating archaeological finds.

Admire the hallowed catacombs where, beneath their persecutors’ feet, early Christians practiced their forbidden faith. Almost 2,000 years ago, this network of secret tunnels doubled as a place of worship and burial ground.

Explore tombs carved out of the solid rock and uncover the fascinating history of this sacred spot. Visit the Bone Chapel where Capuchin monks laid to rest nearly 4,000 of their brothers in this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs.

Listen as your guide shares theories about the meaning of the crypt’s robed skeletons and vertebrae chandeliers. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side and change how you see the city of Rome.

Our tour guide was the lovely Heather. She was fantastic, she had all the facts and a brilliant story was told throughout the 3 locations. The tour was light hearted and fun making it an even more enjoyable and memorable experience. I should add she was great at keeping us all watered and rested as the weather was rather hot that day. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you again :)

Overall pretty good and would recommend if you are interested. Three stops—first has bones of 4000 monks which was quite incredible. 2nd stop was underground crypts was pretty interesting as well. Last stop is a unique church which has multiple levels down to original streets of Rome. Worst part of trip is the meeting location if it’s a hot day. Bus is air conditioned and sites are cool as they are inside or underground. Had 4 and 10 year old and they both enjoyed it

This is an excellent tour to take when visiting Rome! It's a bit different than the usual tourist attractions, but well worth it. We met our tour guide at a Piazza in Rome. There we were divided into two groups, as there were two tour guides. We boarded a bus and drove maybe 20 minutes to the first catacombs a little outside the city. After this tour we headed back into the city for a visit to a church and then ended with the Bine Chapel visit. The walkways in the crypts are very tight, so people with claustrophobia or other space issues, may want to reconsider taking this tour. The guides did offer to get anyone out, should this become an issue. I found this tour to be highly informative and a great part of our visit to Rome! I can highly recommend this tour!
