    Discover Pompeii on a day tour from Rome Termini Station. Visit this iconic city and its archeological sites and enjoy a farm-to-table lunch with a wine tasting before returning to Rome.

    Begin your journey at Rome Termini station, where you board the high-speed train to Naples. In just over an hour, arrive in Naples and meet your Italia Tours leader. Join your guide, a local of Pompeii, in a shuttle bus, and head to the Pompeii Archaeological Area.

    On your tour, witness a moment of terror frozen in time, people in death postures and ruins unchanged from almost 2,000-years ago. With your archaeologist guide, walk you through the ancient streets with their perfectly conserved ancient bakeries, shops, stalls, residences, public baths, and brothels.

    As you wander through the streets of Pompeii, see plaster casts of the unfortunate Pompeiians who were immortalized on that tragic day.       Our group of six had a great time with Adrian as our driver and Antonio as our Pompeii guide. It was even better than we anticipated. We enjoyed getting out of Rome for the day and seeing more of Italy. Seeing Pompeii helped us to understand the past in Italy as well. After lunch we made a stop at a Limoncello factory which was a nice bonus. All in all it was a great day!

      I feel compelled to give a special shoutout to our guide, Mauricio, from When In Rome Tours. He not only served as a private driver from Rome to Pompeii (and Sorrento for lunch), but he was also an easygoing pleasant person in general - and exceptional at communication. He chatted with us about different aspects of Rome and the coastal cities, and gave us some very useful no-nonsense advice on navigating travel challenges in Italy. And through it all, he maintained a highly professional and entirely relaxed demeanor. My wife and I felt at ease throughout the entire trip. Made for a rather stellar visit to Pompeii - and more. Also as a side note: Raffaele who hosted the Pompeii walking tour itself was fantastic. He had studied and written about the site, and was clearly passionate about it. All in all, an awesome time.
