Full description

Escape the crowds of the Colosseum and Vatican, and explore the darker side of Rome on a guided tour of the ancient catacombs and crypts. Venture to parts of the city that few visitors ever see, traveling between sites by air-conditioned minibus. First, follow your guide to 3 memorable sites, each revealing the extraordinary secrets of Ancient Rome. They include the labyrinthine Roman Catacombs that were part burial ground and part refuge for the persecuted early Christians of Ancient Rome. Then, visit the Capuchin Crypt, known locally as the “Bone Chapel,” and marvel at the walls, decorated with the bones more than 4,000 monks. To finish out the day in style, visit perhaps one of the most spectacular sites in all of Rome - the Roman Aqueducts. Enjoy time to explore and understand this monumental landmark from a stunning vantage point.

Our guide Andrea was the best. He was knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about what he wanted to tell us about the catacombs and crypts. He was very easy to understand. When the tour was over, he made sure all of us had transportation since the pick up and drop off spots are not the same.

Our tour was good and we were provided with a lot of interesting information by our tour guide, Paris, about these interesting sites. Not 5 stars because the tour ends (and you are dropped off) right inside the old Rome city walls at Piramide metro station area. You have to find your own way back into the Rome city center. Since the tour leaves from Piazza Barbarini, it should end at Piazza Barbarini. That way guests aren’t having to pay money/waste their time finding public transport or an Uber/taxi back to the city center.

Jason was great, he never ran out of things to talk about. His knowledge of everything roman and Christian was brilliant. We spent some good time in the Bone Crypts without feeling too too rushed however it was quite a quick walk through the museum part of the tour. Which was made better by spending a little more time in the crypsts themselves. The Catacombs were incredibly interesting, sadly our group merged with another group and we couldnt use our headsets to hear the guide which was also changed from Jason. The catacombs was so expansive despite the fact you onyly see less than 5% of the map. I just wished the guide wore a microphone. The tour finished with seeing the Roman Aqueducts, sadly I think we were running behind schedule and this portion was definitely rushed, spending about 10 minutes actually under and around the Aqueducts then getting driven back to Romes centre.
