This is a great option for getting around to the various site seeing areas. Most of them still require some walking to get where you want to go, but in general they go to the major areas of the city and get you close to the sites. It is also a great option to just ride around and take some pictures. On one of our days we were too tired to walk further, so we just rode the bus around and took pictures from the open roof on the second level.

SUCH a great way to see Rome if you're short on time. We only had one day and this was the perfect way to see all the big sights efficiently, but with zero rush. We had the perfect balance of freedom to roam & reliable/convenient transport to get where we wanted to go. Highly recommend! This company in particular was clean, organized, affordable, and great information on the headset if you like! *One thing we wish we knew was that lunch time is VERY busy, hard to find a seat anywhere (up or down) on the bus, so plan your stops accordingly!

The hop-on hop-off bus is a brilliant way to get around Rome when you are not familiar with the city and it also shows you far more than just the landmarks, it's a lovely route through 'normal' streets too! But there are no signs telling you where the bus stops are, we wasted a lot of time just trying to locate the first stop to get on the bus in the first place! And locals are willing to help but their directions are not always 100% accurate :-) We ended up using Google maps to locate street names and then walking up and down until we saw the bus!
