Meeting point

Meet your host at the bottom of the steps across the street from the entrance of the Vatican Museums. The steps are located right next to Caffè Vaticano on the corner of Viale Vaticano and Via Tunisi. From Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani Metro A Station: Exit the turnstiles, walk straight to the back end of the station, and go to the left-side exit. Exit at V.le Giulio Cesare (to your right) and walk down V.le G. Cesare to the street light, cross the street, and take a left on Via Leone IV. Take a right on Via Sebastiano Veniero and walk 1 ½ blocks. By taxi: Ask the driver to take you to the “Ingresso dei Musei Vaticani on Viale Vaticano." From St. Peter's Square: As you face St. Peter's Basilica, turn right, exit the square, and follow the Vatican walls around toward the entrance to the Vatican Museums. The walls should be on your left side. Across the street, you will see Via Tunisi and Caffè Vaticano.

The Vatican Museum is a must see when in Rome. This is NOT a tour—these are only entry tickets that allow you inside the museum and after that, you are on your own. If you are expecting a tour—this is not it. The museum is a wonder, completely beautiful. Many stairs and many steps because this thing is so huge. You could spend days looking at everything! The museum is crowded, smashed together and shuffling through. I recommend getting the before opening hours tour with breakfast if you want a smaller crowd and a better viewing experience. (We did this also through Get Your Guide).

We purchased skip-the-line access to the Vatican Museum and Sistene Chapel. Our helpful guide from City Wonders Tours met us across the street, steered us through the doors and the mass of humanity waiting to get inside, procured our tickets, and gave us some very informative information before sending us off to take in the museums at our own pace. She even called us because we were running a little late to make sure we were ok and still coming. It was perfect and hassle free. Highly recommend this service.

Recommended. I showed up at the meeting point and met our host. She checked me in and provided me with a sticker I placed on my T-shirt. At the designated time, we went into the Vatican museum; skipped the long line outside. We went through security, and our host told us to hang tight while she gets us (the rest of the group and myself) our physical tickets. She got them within 5 minutes, provided us with our individual tickets and off we went. Once we had our tickets, we were on our own and explored the museum at our own pace.
