Full description
Visit the most important sites of ancient Rome on this 3-hour guided tour. Skip the lines waiting to enter the Coliseum with your priority access ticket, and enjoy a tour of the amphitheater and the Roman Forum with your knowledgeable guide. The construction of the Coliseum, the largest amphitheater of the Roman Empire, began in 72 A.D. and was designed to change the relationship between those in power and the Roman people. Learn about the incredible engineering techniques that allowed ancient Romans to complete this massive structure. Entertainment and other distractions were offered to the populace for free. The events included gladiator fights and hunting simulations involving ferocious and exotic animals. The capacity of the Coliseum is estimated at around 70,000. The amphitheater was often filled to capacity for shows that became occasions to impress and control the people through an astonishing display of special effects. Continue on to the archeological site of the Roman Forum and learn more about life of the citizens of Rome during that time.

Francesca was fantastic, a true font of knowledge. A great tour.

The government suddenly decided that everything should be open to all during this week, Cultural Week, so our Skip the Line tickets did not work which was annoying. Francesca did her best and got us into the Forum as quickly as she could but the queue fir the Colisseum was painful.

A great experience enhanced by the wonderful guide.

We had booked our guide not knowing what to expect and would recommend this service to anyone. We were quite lucky in that there was only one other person on our tour (it was first thing in the morning) so it was as if we had a private tour. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, spoke clearly and loud enough for us to hear. We moved around and covered quite an it if ground, all the while learning a ton about the people, history, and architecture. I would highly recommend this for anyone as it was a perfect t piece of our visit to Rome.

the starting point is out of the way and we felt that time was wasted getting to the colloseum because of this... the tour itself was very enjoyable and the tour guide was knowledgeable and slightly repetitive.. overall though we enjoyed the experience.
