1. From Tel Aviv: Jerusalem Old City Late Morning Tour
The tour departs from your choice of either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem between 9 and 10 AM, so that you can relax in the morning and prepare for the day ahead. The first stop of the tour is Mount Scopus, one of Jerusalem’s most iconic landmarks with panoramic views across the city. Descend the mount, passing the famous Garden of Gethsemane and Church of All Nations along the way. Arrive in the Old City and wander through the bustling Jewish Quarter as you head towards the Byzantine-era Cardo, an excavated thoroughfare with impressive colonnades that line the street. Stop at the Western Wall next, a sacred Jewish site where visitors hide prayer notes between the ancient stones. The tour continues along a section of the Via Dolorosa where your guide highlights a number of the Stations of the Cross that mark points where Jesus stumbled as he carried his cross. The Via Dolorosa leads you to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a massive and ornate church shared by several Christian denominations and which holds incredible treasures and multiple shrines. Head out of the Old City next with a visit to Mount Zion, home to the Room of the Last Supper where Jesus broke bread with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion. The Room of the Last Supper is also called the Upper Room as it is above another important site, King David’s tomb, where the faithful come to pray. This tour draws to an end at the Jerusalem Light Rail stop and at the BY14 Hotel in Tel Aviv.
