Experience routes within the Cottonwood, Maple, or Provo Canyons which will be customized according to the experience level of your group. Select the half-day tour which is perfect for first-timers or those who have only a little previous experience - giving you a sampler of single pitch ice climbing. The adventure will take place in Little Cottonwood Canyon within the Wasatch range or in Provo Canyon south of Salt Lake City. The exact location depends on weather conditions and your group skill level. Alternatively, choose the full-day tour which allows time to do different climbs, work on technique, practice basic climbing, and belaying skills. Climb in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Provo Canyon or Maple Canyon, based on weather conditions and your group skills. Start the tour by meeting your guide in Salt Lake City, from where you will be transported in a comfortable vehicle to the ice-climbing venue. Listen as the guide explains how to use the climbing equipment including ice axes and crampons and the belaying technique properly. Then, get kitted out with helmets and harnesses. As you begin to climb, your guide will set up a top-rope belay for you and give you instructions on improving your technique. 3. Salt Lake City: Cottonwood Canyons Backcountry Ski Tour

On the day of your trip, meet your guide in Salt Lake City and drive to the venue that best fits your needs for an optimal experience. Before hitting the slopes, your guide will make sure your gear is in proper working order and will begin to instruct you on the basics of staying safe in the backcountry. This will include a brief avalanche safety demo, going over how to use a beacon, probe, and shovel, and a brief explanation of avalanche terrain and its characteristics. The skiing technique will be taught to maximize your efficiency when touring in the backcountry. Your group's skiing ability and enthusiasm will determine the rest of the day and the terrain you will cover. The day will conclude by driving back to the original meet up point. Classic Introductory Tour: Choose this option if you’ve never skied or snowboarded in the Wasatch Mountains before. This experience will get you up high to the best views of the mountain range with the shortest approach. The tours will take place in either Little or Big Cottonwood Canyons depending on the snow and where the best skiing can be found. The day will include approximately 1,500-2,500 feet of climbing and riding. Intermediate Tour: Experience the Central Wasatch Mountains and go where the best snow can be found. Start in Little Cottonwood Canyon, followed by skiing down into Big Cottonwood and eventually working your way back up and over into Little Cottonwood again. The tour will be approximately 3,000 to 5,000 feet of climbing and riding. Advanced Tour: Explore multiple peaks of the Wasatch Mountains, drainages, and slopes on the same day. Advanced Tours will focus on covering a wide variety of terrain and searching out wherever and whatever the best skiing of the day may be.
