Explore the heart of the city of Salzburg. Starting at Palace Mirabell, you will explore the sights here. The palace was built under the reign of the famous baroque Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Reitenau for his mistress Salome Alt and their 15 children. At the Makartplatz, next to the Palace Mirabell, you will see the Mozart Residence. You will explore the New Town and this side of the river before crossing the bridge “Makartsteg” to arrive at the Old Town of Salzburg. Both the musical and film are based on the "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers" written by Maria von Trapp in 1949.  Do follow the traces of the Trapp family and take a tour through Salzburg and its surroundings. June was our guide and was exceptionally educated on Salzburg and its history. The couple of hours on tour that we took on our first day in town was ideal to identify what we should do for the rest of our tour
