San Francisco: Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown & Bay Cruise

1. San Francisco: Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown & Bay Cruise

Start your tour near the Ferry Building with a view of what was once one of the busiest ports in the world. Then catch an iconic San Francisco cable car from a favorite stop and learn what makes this very unique public transport so special. Disembark atop Nob Hill and learn about the industrial tycoons who built the city as you wander through Huntington Park. Visit the beautiful gothic interior of Grace Cathedral. Enter the bustling neighborhood of Chinatown, the largest Chinese enclave outside of Asia and the oldest Chinatown in North America. Taste fresh fortune cookies and see hidden landmarks like the Tin How Buddhist Temple as you learn how the neighborhood went from being a seedy red-light district to one of the most vibrant enclaves in the city. For a little treat, pop into the legendary Golden Gate Factory for an insight into the art (and logistics) of fortune cookie making. Receive a special custom-made cookie to take home. That’s not the end of the delicious snacks either - you'll also get advice on where to eat if you want to come back to try the world-famous dim sum. Then, visit Lombard Street, called the "most crooked street in the world", Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square. See Fisherman’s Wharf, explore the old docks, and smell the fresh bread in the famous Boudin Bakery. Your tour will also pause at Ghirardelli Square for a sample of famous chocolate. After this, continue on to your final highlight of the day - a gorgeous bay cruise of the historic waterfront. Relax and tune into the included audio device to hear some fascinating tales. Admire beautiful views of the San Francisco skyline in every direction and sail past the famous Pier 39 sea lions, right under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island (the closest you can get without booking a ticket). A perfect end to a San Francisco day.

The tour itself was wonderful. So many stops and interesting information along the way. Our tour guide Maggie was phenomenal and very knowledgeable. She tried to set a slower pace for my mom who is not as easily mobile. However, it proved to be too much walking for my mom. I was able to finish it, but it is def a lot of walking up and down very steep hills. There is a fun trolley ride and a bus ride at two points along the tour. Lunchtime was a little hectic, as the location we stopped for lunch is very busy and it took up all of our time trying to get food. The afternoon part of the tour took us down Lombard street, Ghirardelli square and finally ended at fisherman’s wharf for a bay cruise. I would def recommend the tour but if you have ANY trouble walking, this is not the tour for you.

I loved the tour. There were 6 of us on the tour, all lovely people and our tour guide Maggi was amazing. Though the tour involves a lot of walking, she had it planned around with breaks and short rides so we never really felt exhausted. She was super knowledgable and hand an answer for every question we asked her. She shared info on the best places to grab a bite, showed us a really delicious fortune cookie shop, gave us tips on where to sit on rides, etc. Pretty much, everything you would want in a tour guide and more

Maggie, our guide was wonderful and so informative. Nothing was rushed and we had plenty time to explore each of our day’s locations. It was great the we could take a ride on either a Cable car or Street car to take the strain out of get up to the top of the steep streets like Nob hill and Russian hill. After our walk and ride around downtown San Francisco we were provided with the boat trip tickets to the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

Maggie is an awesome person to represent this city & “walk” company

Christopher was informative and a great tour guide.
