Full description
Start your day by meeting your guide at the local fruit stand “Frutera Flores” in the town of Luquillo. Here, your guide will pick up a variety of fresh local fruit for the tour, and you have the opportunity to purchase some local fritters and/or a fresh fruit smoothie. After this stop, follow your guide in your rental car to the majestic El Yunque Rainforest- without a doubt Puerto Rico’s greatest Natural Wonder. It is the only tropical rainforest, the most biologically diverse, and the most studied forest in the US National Forest System. After an interpretive hike through natural trails lined with beautiful flora and fauna, and some river wading, arrive at a hidden gem found in the heart of the rainforest. This breathtaking segment of the 29,000-acre forest is like a natural playground. Here, have the chance to swim in the natural pools, refresh in waterfalls, slide down an exhilarating waterslide, rope swing into the river, jump from different rock formations, and enjoy fresh local fruit with a view. Along with all of this excitement, you will also have time to simply relax to the sounds of cascading waters and take in the beauty of this very special place.

Jesse and his partner are second to none! My teens and I had a great trip filled with difficulty, laughs, smiles, grunts, and team work! Met some great folks and did some climbing that I NEVER thought I could do, but the guides were cheerleaders and so VERY helpful with the tricky parts! The beauty of the vegetation was stunning and their knowledge of the rainforest was fantastic. It was NOT easy, but well worth the aching muscles I hadn’t used in years. The waterfall slide was exhilarating and jumping off the rocks scared me, but I did it!!! Watching my kids do this next to me was priceless and memories I hope they never forget!

The trip was amazing. Great hiking. Great adventure. Pictures came out to be ok. They would tell you not to take your phone because you will get submerged in water (which is very true) however, you could take your phone as long as you have a water proof protector and you can either hold it or hang it around your neck.

Made this reservation last minute after checking daily for openings. Fruit shop we met at sold what you needed if you forgot anything. Except good walking shoes with a grip. We are talking shoes you want to throw away. Old sneakers? Bring them!! (I bought boots at Walmart in PR that I did not bring home.) Challenging but not unmanageable hike. They will not ask you to do anything you can’t handle and the fellow members in the group were all supportive. I’m not athletic, at all! No gym experience and out-of-shape middle-aged woman. Three prizes at the end: Natural waterslide. Cliff jump, Rope swing. If none of these are for you, this trip isn’t for you. You leave your camera/phone behind because it will be completely submerged in water. You will leave completely wet - head to toe (read waterslide) and with mud covered shoes. Worth every minute. Two teenaged kids LOVED it. They can cliff jump and rope swing over and over. Well worth the time and money.
