Full description

Depart Santiago de Compostela in the morning on an excursion to Finisterre and Muxia.

First, take a walking tour of the old town Muros and the fishing port that is a reminder of Galician culture and tradition where the sea is the protagonist. Admire the porches, galleries, and quaint style of the homes.

Visit the spectacular Ézaro Waterfall of the Xallas River, which crosses Ézaro and cascades into the sea. From a fantastic vantage point, enjoy breathtaking views of the town and coast. Discover the town of Fisterra, a popular stop on the pilgrim's route to Compostela. Visit Faro, the most important location in the Costa da Morte area. After, enjoy free time for lunch.

Visit the quaint village of Muxia to see Nosa Señora da Barca, one of the most traditional marine sanctuaries in Galicia. It is said that the Virgin appeared to the Apostle James here. Next, visit the town of Ponte Maceira. Cross the medieval bridge over the Tambre River and admire the surrounding vegetation, creating an atmospheric setting. We covered a lot of ground. Our tour guide was very good, the bus was comfortable., the only downside was that Muxta was fogged in, but then that made for some interesting lighting effects if you're a photographer. Ezara Falls was less than exciting due to the adjoining power plant and resultant inability to get close, but nevertheless worthwhile. Ponte Maceira was better than anticipated and the bus driver proved his skill crossing the narrow bridge in the face of a stalled vehicle. Fog or no, good trip, recommended.

This tour allows one to experience some of the natural beauty of Galicia. Muxia and Fisterra both offer lovely views of the sea. Riding through the countryside we learned about the crops that are grown and saw the structures families use to store food for the winter. We learned a bit about living in Galicia and had time in the fishing village of Muros. This trip is a great introduction to Galicia and the wider world beyond Santiago de Compostela.

Very interesting tour! Fine schedule and plenty of time everywhere to absorb everything. Fascinating information from the super friendly guide, she herself comes from Muros! Nice detail that with this work she wants to put her region on the map and represent her generation as the small villages on the costa da morte are aging quite a lot! This tour is definitely recommended!
