Full description

Depart Siem Reap and journey through the beautiful countryside to explore the ruins of Beng Mealea temple on the ancient royal highway to Preah Khan Kompong Svay.  Built out of sandstone as a Hindu temple in the 12th century, Beng Mealea has been partly reclaimed by nature where remains of the towers and courtyards can be seen in the thick brush of the dense jungle.  Travel on to Koh Ker, abandoned to the forests north of Siem Reap, and see some of the linga-shrines reclaimed from nature. Marvel at the ruins of sacred sites such as Prasat Thom, Prasat Pram, and Prasat Chrap, and get fascinating insights into the history, culture, and religions of the time. Relax in a nearby restaurant, where you can try traditional curries, soups, and stir-fries at your own expense. After your tour, be transported back to your hotel.

I’m really glad I decided to visit Koh Ker & Beng Mealea. Beng Mealea with its magical ruins was my favorite part of traveling around Siem Reap. Even if after Angkor Wat you’re not feeling like another day of exploring temples, you really should consider visiting Beng Mealea. On top of that, the whole shuttle bus had a great time with our guide Cherry. He gave us clear explanations weaved into interesting stories, and took great candid photos (perfect for those who dislike posed shots). Pickup & drop-off were smooth, and everything was right on time. To anyone reading this, hope you’re gonna enjoy Koh Ker & Beng Mealea as much as I did :)
