What people are saying about Smithfield, QLD

An awesome day. Started with being picked up and transferred to Freshwater Station to pick up our train trip to Kuranda. The next highlight was the Jungara Loop where we had great photo opportunities for the train. Stoney Creek Falls were amazing and were flowing really well. A 10 Minute Stopover at Barron Falls was next although there wasn't that much water flowing. The township of Kuranda was touristy as you would expect. The Duck through the rainforest and waterways was relaxing and very informative. It had a great interactive area. A walk along the Barron River was pleasant. The Skyrail back down was probably the highlight. We jumped off at Barron Falls Station for more views of the falls and the boardwalk as well as the mandatory changeover at Red Peak Station where we joined the complimentary ranger talk which was very informative. Once we completed the 7.5km trip we exited at Smithfield and boarded the transport back to our resort. An awesome day and one not to be missed.

Wonderful day today. Firstly our pilot Brad from GSL Aviation (Cairns airport) was informative, professional, attentive & knowledgeable as we flew above the reef. Just 6 in the plane + pilot. Everyone had a window seat. A great experience we would recommend to everyone. 10/10 Brad. Then we went to Smithfield to catch the Skyrail up to Kuranda, a really good way to travel up the mountain with the rainforest below. Then at Kuranda we took a 45 minute boat ride on the Barron River (Kuranda Riverboat Tours) and our guide Lex was very knowledgeable in pointing out fresh water crocs, tortoises, fish & a cassowary, all up close & personal. 10/10 Lex. Then lunch at the Kuranda Pub (nice hamburger) and the train trip down the mountain. The trainline is a marvellous historical engineering endeavour & should be experienced.

Great bus driver with a good sense of humour to start the day. Everything went to plan. Loved the train ride, the duck, but the best part was the Skyrail. Wonderful to be picked up at the end of the day with a short history lesson about cairns and Kuranda.

Andrea and Chris were the perfect hosts. We were well looked after all day. Great suggestions for food and shopping in Kuranda. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely choose this tour group again due another trip in the future.

Great trip. Leader Chris was great fun and very informative.
