Be collected from your accommodation by a taxi. Begin your tour at Sosua Bay, where crystal clear warm waters and a 1 km long sand beach welcome you. Every year from the middle of January until the end of March you are able to see Humpback Whales in Samana. Samana is considered one of the best places in the world for humpback whale watching. These beautiful and giant marine mammals, come out regularly to the surface to breathe, remain in apnea for about twenty minutes, but can remain underwater for up to forty minutes. Whales come to Samana to give birth due to their whalebone when born, only having a very thin layer of fat so cannot withstand the cold waters. At birth, the calf measures between three and a half and five meters and weighs a ton.
