Villasimius: Capo Carbonara Boat and Snorkeling Tour

1. Villasimius: Capo Carbonara Boat and Snorkeling Tour

Experience one of Sardinia's most pristine locations with a marine biologist as your guide. Tour the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara on the southern tip of Villasimius to learn about the efforts to conserve the wildlife that now thrives on the islands of Cavoli and Serpentara. Reach the islands by boat and learn the meaning of Sites of Community Interest, or SCIs, that are crucial for the repopulation of maritime flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for the endangered Corsican seagull whose population has been recovering in this region. Next, don your snorkeling gear and take the opportunity to observe native species like octopuses, sponges, algae, and more. Learn from your guide about how the creatures are cared for here and see their fascinating behavior in their natural habitat.

Dorgali: Trek to Gorropu with Panoramic Views

2. Dorgali: Trek to Gorropu with Panoramic Views

Meet your guide in Orosei or Dorgali before starting the adventure with some off-road driving to descend into the valley where the trek path begins. The hike starts with some water wading through the Flumineddu river to enter the woodland area formed of Old Oaks, Arbutus and Mediterranean shrubs. Walk along the cliffs of Monte Oddeu and arrive at the entrance to the Gorroppu gorge in less than 2 hours. Admire the incredible rocky walls which rise for more than 400 meters over the dry river bed, making this gorge one of the deepest canyons in Europe. Today the canyon is a natural border between the Italian territories of Urzulei and Orgosolo. The canyon was formed when the Flumineddu river excavated the Jurassic limestone that formed when Sardinia was covered by the sea. Learn from your guide how the marine rocks are full of fossils from ammonites, fish and algae found in the area, and hopefully catch a glimpse of such an artifact. During the trek, discover the unique micro climate of the canyon that allowed the giant growth of the trees including the Phyllirea and the Old Yew. As you continue on the hike, the path becomes harder and harder, you may have to use your hands to proceed through the boulders. When it is no longer possible to go further, it’s time to head back.

What people are saying about South Sardinia, Sardinia

It was a great experience! The team was very nice, and consideration was also given to more anxious participants. A guide came into the water at both stops, you snorkeled as a group, so you always felt safe. There were no explanations about flora/fauna, which we didn't find bad, it was so great. Water and crackers were served. We were the only ones there 20 minutes before the start, we started half an hour after the official start. You can't arrive there with your German punctuality. All in all we would recommend it and do it again.

The dive was enchantingly beautiful. As a beginner you only have to paddle with your feet and you will be guided by the dive guide. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the beautiful underwater world. It was teeming with fish. The round trip was a bit bumpy as it was very windy. Absolute recommendation.

We had a wonderful time with Elizabeth and her colleague. Really enjoyed the trip and got to spend plenty of time with our underwater friends! Highly recommended.

Very beautiful areas where you can see fish, starfish etc. Very very nice staff! We even felt that we were with friends!

Great captain! Great experience. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. One of the highlights of our trip
