From Eilat: 2-Day Petra & Wadi Rum Tour with Camp Stay

1. From Eilat: 2-Day Petra & Wadi Rum Tour with Camp Stay

Petra is the most famous tourist site in Jordan today. Petra was once occupied by the Nabateans, and almost everything in Petra was constructed by them. Visiting Petra, you'll be able to see over 800 objects, including the famous treasury, temples, mourning houses, caves, and more. Wadi Rum is everything you'd expect of a quintessential desert: extreme in heat in the summer and freezing temperatures in the winter. It is violent and moody as the sun slices through the chiseled canyons at dawn or melts the division between rock and sand at dusk. It is exacting on the Bedouin who live in it and vengeful on those who ignore the dangers it presents. Experience its power and beauty with your expert guide. Your tour will begin with a pick up from your hotel in Eilat at 08:30 AM. After crossing the Arava border, you will drive to Wadi Musa Petra and tour the site. After the tour, you will eat lunch in Petra and drive to Wadi Rum and stay overnight at an authentic Bedouin camp. Along the way, you will learn all about the Nabataeans, their history, their art, gods, and the Bedouin way of life. Upgrade your experience in the desert to a 4-star tent with a private bathroom which includes a shower and a toilet in the tent.

Entering Petra, through the Siq, you'll arrive at the famous Treasury. One of the reasons Petra is one of the seven wonders of the world is the spectacular Treasury facade. With numerous statues, facades, temples, tombs, caves, and a Roman theatre, Petra is an unforgettable experience in ancient architecture. The Nabateans inhabited Petra over 2000 years ago and prospered from building a water conduit system. Water was sold to the passing caravans, merchants, and travelers. After an earthquake in 363 A.D. Petra fell into a decline. Without enough resources to rebuild it the city, people left Petra. 3. From Eilat: 2-Day Tour to Petra

Day 1: After an early departure from Eilat and crossing into Jordan, travel 2-3 hours along the scenic mountain route and through the desert to Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World – briefly stopping for an overview. Pass the Obelisks in front of the cave tomb, then enter the narrow, 1,200 meter long canyon, the Siq, with an option to ride for the first few hundred meters. Walk through a gorge with the towering red stone on either side and marvel at the incredible sites carved into the red mountain. The Deir (temple) will dwarf over you, forty meters high with columns reaching more than two storeys tall. See the Roman theater and its uniquely designed tombs, along with the sacrificial altar. Then, after dinner in Petra you will have a free evening.  Day 2: In the morning spend free time exploring Petra on your own and enjoy the Bedouin market. Begin the return journey after lunch, and stop at a number of observation points to enjoy scenic views of the desert landscape and of Wadi Rum, before crossing to Eilat.

This was a fun family trip. The guide was awesome and looked out for the safety and pleasure of the group. Do not expect to see everything in deep detail as there is just too much to see and too little time. There were definitely a lot of pieces from crossing the border, fees, transportation, meals, accommodations that even as an experienced traveler I think would have been difficult if I tried to go on my own without the tour. A quick note, at the end I noticed people from other companies had to take a taxi back to Eilat from the border crossing but GetYourGuide picked us up and took us back to a hotel after the tour. If I had to do it again I would still choose this company for the tour, no regrets or complaints. Jordan is beautiful and a once in a lifetime movie-like experience.

We are a family of five, parents and three teenage boys who took the trip. It was amazing! Very well organized, stunning nature and culture - all led by our fantastic guide Nizar who kept us informed, entertained and in safe hands from start to the finish.

Great Tour. Would recommend the Jeep tour in the desert and the great camp experience, with friendly and easy going staff. Food in the camp was also included (not mentioned in the description)

It was absolutely perfect! 2 days of total wonder! Our guide Neezar was really great, we learned a lot of things and we were amazed! it's a must!
