Off the beaten track

Your day of adventure will begin as you are collected from your Reykjavik hotel at 8:30AM. From here you will climb into your fully-equipped super jeep, specifically designed to navigate the rugged terrain of Iceland's wilderness. You will first travel to Thjórsárdalur, a green valley dotted with rivers, waterfalls, lava fields, and birch woods. Whilst here you will explore the two-tiered Hjálparfoss Waterfall, where you will be able to walk down an easy path to see the plunge pool, which is framed by lava structures and basalt formations. The tour's next stop is a deep blue crater lake called Hnausapollur, which makes for surreal photos. From here you will continue to Frostastadavatn, another lake with lava flows that plunge directly into the water. At Landmannalaugar you will be able to see the black lava flows running through the multicolored cryolite mountains. You can take the walking path to the Brennisteinsfjöll Volcano, special for its vibrant color scheme of dark lava fields, yellow sulfide, and green lichens. Following your hike, you will take a relaxing hot bath in the natural pool at the foot of the Laugahraun lava field. Your last stops are Haifoss, Iceland's third-highest waterfall, and Lake Ljótipollur, which is surrounded by dark-red crater walls. You will later return to Reykjavik for drop-off at the conclusion of your tour.

Benefit from pick-up at your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík, and then journey to the Sólheimajökull glacier near the southenmost village of Vik.  Upon arrival, meet your certified glacier guide and get a safety briefing to help your walk on the ice. Put on the provided glacier gear and venture out into the wilderness. Experience the unique sensation of walking on a glacier tongue using crampons and an ice axe.  Return to Reykjavík via the waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss and take souvenir photos of the amazing cascades.

See Iceland’s Golden Circle on an afternoon and search for the Northern Lights on the same evening tour from Reykjavik. See the ancient geological formations and parliament site at Thingvellir National Park; watch the Strokkur waterspout at Geysir; and admire the beautiful Gullfoss Waterfall. As darkness falls, seek out the Northern Lights, escaping light pollution to experience the incredible light show. Numbers are limited to six people for a more personalized experience. Travel inland in a comfortable 4x4 designed to negotiate rugged terrain, and hear from your guide about Iceland’s volcanic geology. Your first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn how the landscapes have been formed over millennia, and absorb the contrast between the lush green vegetation and rich, black ground. Travel on to Geysir, a geothermal field of hot springs, steam vents and the remnants of an old volcano. Continue to Gullfoss Waterfall, whose name means ‘Golden Falls,’ a reference to the shimmering, multi-colored mists that can sometimes appear above the waters. As dusk falls, begin your quest for the Northern Lights. Iceland is one of the world’s best places to see them, and your all-terrain 4x4 and knowledgeable guide will allow you to identify and access the best potential viewing sites. The pulsating colors of the lights, usually green and blue, split the darkness and sometimes shine brighter than the moon.

The Golden Circle is a must-see for any who come to Iceland. It features some of the most iconic sites that have been made famous through postcards and other imagery of the country. It's most famed sites include the geysir spring area where water erupts from the earth, the historic Þingvellir National Park, and the immensely powerful Gullfoss Waterfall. Your full-day tour will begin with your guide picking you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik. You will be taken to the base camp located only 15 minutes away from the city center. At the basecamp, a safety briefing and short instructional course will show you how to operate the buggies safely. Then you're off! The versatile buggy allows you to tear through the off-road trails that lead to the mountaintop of Hafrefell and give way to an impressive panoramic view overlooking Reykjavik. After the tour finishes, return to your accommodation. Please note that the buggies are 2-seater, so you can either choose to share or choose to drive your own buggy by selecting the 'single rider' option.

Paragliding is the calmest and safest form of free flying known to man. A tandem flight is performed with an experienced instructor pilot. Once the wing is inflated and safety checks are done you take a few steps down a slope then you step into the air. Tandem paragliding flights vary in duration and it is not possible to guarantee a specific flight time due to the changeable nature of the wind and general weather conditions in Iceland. The times for morning, afternoon or evening take-off are only an indication. Allow +/- 2 hrs in your itinerary and call the supplier the day before to re-confirm as we will be aware of the weather forecast. It is aimed to fly for 10-15 minutes, but if weather conditions are not ideal and the flight might be short, the provider will tell you beforehand. You only when the weather conditions are safe. If conditions are anything less than perfect before take-off, you can wait for them to improve or walk away and try again another time. The outlet glacier is a rugged, raw and an ever changing environment of ancient frozen water, breathtaking to behold. Start the day with a peaceful walk up towards Sólheimajökull glacier.  After a short but very important demonstration on how to properly use the glacier equipment, head up the riddled outlet glacier ready for your climb. Walking between deep crevasses, amazing ice formations, jagged ridges and spine-tingling sinkholes, feel the vastness of this stunning landscape. Spend a good amount of time trying out various ways of ice climbing in a fun and educating way while you take in the amazing scenery surrounding you. This gives you the perfect opportunity to get that glacier climbing photo you've always wanted.

You will begin your Icelandic adventure with pickup from your centrally-located Reykjavik hotel by private 4x4 Super Jeep, from where you will set out along Iceland’s rugged south coast. You can enjoy the endless panorama of snow-capped mountains, glacial rivers and jagged sea cliffs as you wind along the coast, before arriving at your first stop: the vast Urridafoss Waterfall. Located along the Thjórsá River, the falls are among the widest in Iceland, but remain off the tourist trail. If you are lucky here, you may even have this serene location to yourself. Following a short drive, you will jump out at the second photo stop of the day, looking up at the majestic Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Here you can take the opportunity to walk behind the falls or climb to the top for an unbeatable view over the glacier. Afterwards, venture off the beaten track to see the Gljúfurárfoss Waterfall, hidden in a canyon behind Seljalandsfoss. You will then continue to perhaps the most famous waterfall of the South Iceland, Skógafoss, where you can stand in awe before the 197-foot-high falls. After admiring the mighty falls from below, you can climb the stairs to the viewing platform at the top of the falls for an even more impressive view. You can continue to enjoy the increasingly dramatic scenery as you drive past the Sólheimajökull, part of Mýrdalsjökull (Iceland’s largest glacier) where the landscapes change from rugged volcanic plains to walls of white ice and looming craters. Following a stop at Dyrhólaey (where the coastal cliffs and natural rock arch offer a habitat for a variety of native birds) you will continue to Reynisfjara Beach to stroll the black volcanic sands and admire the unusual rock formations. The final destination of the day is Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland’s southernmost village. It sits on the seafront, hemmed by the nearby imposing cliffs of Mount Reynisfjall. Here you will enjoy free time to explore its pretty buildings, visit the hilltop church, or browse the shops, before setting out on the return journey. Following an action-packed day tour, you will arrive back in Reykjavik where your tour ends with drop off at your hotel.

Your full-day adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in central Reykjavik. Soak up the scenery as you leave the city behind and head inland to the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Thingvellir National Park. As you pass through ancient lava fields, listen to your guide share insight into Iceland’s fascinating geology, as well as the park’s unique location, which sits at the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Hop out to admire the dramatic landscapes caused by the drifting of the plates, then visit the site of the world’s first parliament at the heart of the national park. Continue the tour through the mountainous landscapes, passing by Lake Laugarvatn to reach the geothermal location of the geysirs. Upon arrival, enjoy the chance to admire the 'original geysir', after which all others were named. Even more impressive is the neighboring Strokkur geysir, which erupts every few minutes in a spectacular burst of water and steam. Afterwards, a short drive brings you to another awe-inspiring natural wonder, the mighty Gullfoss waterfalls. At the waterfalls, enjoy ample time to learn about and snap photos of the dramatic landscape. After an action-packed morning, it’s time to venture off-the-beaten-track and pay a visit to the beautiful Secret Lagoon. Located in the small village of Fludir, the lagoon is a perfect example of Iceland’s famous natural hot springs, with waters reaching temperatures of up to 104˚F (40˚C). Take some time to relax and unwind in the steamy pools, before climbing back on the bus for the return journey. On the way back to Reykjavik, make one final stop to admire the volcanic crater of Kerið. Back in the city, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Journey off the beaten track on a special private jeep tour to the Icelandic Highlands. Discover various waterfalls, see one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, and marvel at the awe-inspiring sight of colorful mountains and hot steaming rivers in Landmannalaugar. After pickup from your accommodation in Reykjavik, set off on your adventure with a certified driver-guide. Throughout your tour, drive on gravel, bumpy F-roads, and across rivers in a modified jeep to access places buses cannot reach, and enjoy the extra time to appreciate Iceland's spectacular nature in your exclusive vehicle. Before venturing into the Icelandic Highlands, stop to admire Hjalparfoss, a charming double waterfall, and then discover Gjain, a spectacular secluded green valley with numerous rivers and streams that could belong to a fairy tale. Next, visit the stunning Haifoss — the High Waterfall — an impressive waterfall that drops 122 meters (400 feet) down a 2-million-year-old cliff in a magnificent gorge. Continue your tour to the Icelandic Highlands by driving toward Landmannalaugar, the highlight of the day, and admire the ever-changing landscape through the windows of your comfortable jeep. Upon arrival in Landmannalaugar, find a camping site with a small cafe where you can purchase drinks, coffee, and some snacks. From the campsite, hike along the easy paths to explore the mountains with their amazing colors, as well as the nearby lava formations. Delight in a relaxing bath in the main attraction of the area, a natural hot river. Don't forget your swimsuit and a towel! On your way back to Reykjavik, take a slightly different road, cross a few more rivers, and drive close to Hekla, one of Iceland's most active volcanoes. Throughout the day, your driver will make extra stops and breaks for you to enjoy the tour in comfort. The tour concludes with drop-off back at your accommodation in Reykjavik.

From there continue to Seljalandsfoss, the famous waterfall with the path behind it that will give you the opportunity to take stunning photos. Just a 5-minute walk from the Seljalandsfoss in the canyon hides another beautiful waterfall Gljúfrabúi, which you will have time to visit. Then continue to Skogafoss, a mighty waterfall visible from the road. Walk up the staircase that winds up the grassy slope beside the waterfall to catch some spectacular views of the waterfall and Iceland's South Coast. On a sunny day, both waterfalls will be covered by splendid rainbows. You will then visit the cliffs of Dyrholaey and Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach with basalt columns and caves. Vík comes next, this charming fishing village on the coast, famous for its volcanic beaches and sea stacks. From there you will return to Reykjavik.
