From Ho Chi Minh City: Mekong Delta & Vinh Trang Pagoda Tour

1. From Ho Chi Minh City: Mekong Delta & Vinh Trang Pagoda Tour

Discover the verdant beauty of the Mekong Delta on a day trip from Ho Chi Minh city. Travel in an air-conditioned minivan or bus and board a motorboat for a ride through islands on the Tien River. Enjoy a local lunch in an orchard and ride a rowboat under coconut trees on the Bao Dinh canal. Depart from your Ho Chi Minh City hotel and head to the Mekong Delta by minivan or bus. Pass by green rice fields before arriving at the beautiful rural My Tho.  Go by motorized boat on the Tien River to the Qui (Tortoise islet). See the fishing port, boat-building workshops, and the Dragon, Phoenix, and Unicorn Islet. Walk into the village, where you can visit a local fruit garden and enjoy the tropical fruit while listening to Southern Vietnamese folk music performed by islanders. Join in the daily activities that the locals do and take in the atmosphere of this beautiful natural countryside.  Visit the bee house, and take a picture of the pythons. Lunch will be served right in the heart of the orchard garden. The boat cruise will lead you through the Bao Dinh canal, entering Ben Tre province — the land of coconuts. Here you'll see a typical agricultural model called "Garden – Pond – Cage” before visiting the coconut candy-making shop. Next, enjoy a rowing boat trip on the small canal, fully covered by the shadow of the water coconut trees. After your boat ride, take a bike ride around the island before returning to the bus.

From Ho Chi Minh: Private Mekong Delta Tour and Bike Trip

2. From Ho Chi Minh: Private Mekong Delta Tour and Bike Trip

After being picked up at 8 AM from your hotel, drive for 2 hours out of Saigon to the port. Take a leisurely cruise on the Tien River to see 4 islets which are represented as four mythical animals in Southeast Asia: Dragon, Kirin, Tortoise, and Phoenix.  Visit a honey bee farm and taste delicious honey tea with lemon known for its health properties and walk through the orchard gardens to taste some seasonal tropical fruits. Stop at a coconut candy workshop to see how the delicious candies are made by hand and listen to some Don Ca Tai Tu, a genre of traditional folk music. Relax on the rowing boat going as you journey through a mangrove palm canal, and continue the trip with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the village to experience the way locals traveled in the 19th century.  Return to the mainland and drive directly to Ben Tre province, known as the coconut kingdom of Vietnam. Pick up the bicycles and ride through the countryside which is unreachable by car. Peddle through a local market, tropical fruit gardens, and mangrove palm scenery for about 7-10 km of cycling. Head to a coconut farm and see how coconuts are harvested. Enjoy a home-grown lunch just as the locals do. The tour will end at around 6 PM where you will be returned to Saigon.

What people are saying about Southern Vietnam

The tour was as advertised and included a lot of activities. Our guide, Kevin, was helpful and funny. We enjoyed him. It was great to see the Mekong. I do want to note that I felt the tour was too long, especially in the summer heat. I would like to suggest that the tour company consider offering a half or three-quarter day tour. We were ready to go after lunch.

Handsome Ben was a delight. He had a great plan, he kept it entertaining, moving along, and was very thoughtful and aware of everyone in the group. He was an exceptional guide. The bang for the buck from this excursion couldn’t be beat! 100% do this if you have an extra day in Saigon.

Very happy, it is a very complete excursion and you enjoy it a lot. It must also be said that the place is a tourist attraction, but I think it is worth going. The guide a 10 !!!! His name was Bell, very enthusiastic and always explaining many things to us with a smile.

It’s a good experience. Our guide had a veryfluent english. Bus was comfortable also. They did everything that was in the schedule. Good option if you don’t have too much time

You can enjoy it all day with lunch and I think this amount is cheap.
