This worked exactly as described: ferry to Statue of Liberty, explore the island on your own or with the audio tour, hop back on a ferry when you're ready, and then take the second ferry to Ellis Island. We spent much more time at Ellis Island due to the extensive exhibits. When you're ready to leave, line up for the ferry back to your departure point. Very smooth and easy.

The crossing is fast but the boat does a good tour in front of the statue to ensure you beautiful souvenir photos. The views of NY are incredible (obviously) and it's very nice to take all the time you want to visit Liberty Island and Ellis Island. A must! :)

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to New York City! Not only was it a lot of fun, but very informative as well!

Frequent ferries allowed us to go earlier than planned once we got to Battery Park. Very convenient.

The Statue is incredible! Having a knowledgeable guide made all the difference.
