Quite pricey in comparison to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre tour we did the day before which as excellent and longer and cheaper. Informative and fun guides sprinkling some famous phrase origins like “Hit the sack”. Excellent shop at end of the tour. Made me want to re-read some plays. That didn’t last long I’m afraid

Janine was an excellent guide - she was leading a mixed group - children up to grandparents, including a couple from overseas. She engaged with us all - including 'role play' involving one child (who was quite shy) and myself. I had to nip off early to avoid our dinner reservation being lost which was a shame as it was so enjoyable. The tour actually took just over 1hr 45 which was longer than expected (1hr 30) but that was a good thing :)

Visiting William Shakespeare's birthplace was a wonderful experience. The house has been very well maintained over the centuries and the Guides explained in length how Shakespeare and his family lived in his home. I thoroughly enjoyed finding out about William's dad's glove-making business as well as how Mary Arden gave birth to eight babies in very challenging conditions. A must-see!
