Mauritius: Tamarind Falls Guided Hike with Lunch

2. Mauritius: Tamarind Falls Guided Hike with Lunch

Walk up the striking Tamarind Falls canyon, one of Mauritius' most popular attractions, led by an experienced mountaineer. Meet your guide at the Henrietta bus station for a safety briefing before you head to the starting point of the hike. The first section of the walk will be through luscious rainforest, including a river crossing where you can choose to relax in a natural jacuzzi. Make sure to keep an eye out for the phenomenal and rare endemic birds, and plants. Watch the connected waterfalls flowing and listen to the birds chirping as you climb up the canyon’s seven platforms and one rock-scrambling section. Along the way, your guide will tell you historical stories about Mauritius' past, and the significance of these falls. Pause at the fifth platform to take a dip in the three connected waterfalls’ luscious waters. Take a moment to admire the breath-taking views surrounding you as you comfortably cool down. Carry on walking up a few steep sections before enjoying a packed lunch while you take in the deep canyon’s scenery beneath you. Try not to let your jaw drop too low as you see the intense beauty and nature Mauritius is so famous for, and make sure to snap some well-deserved photos. Let the rushing water massage your back under the last waterfall before setting off to reach the summit of the Tamarind Falls. Even though the official name of the hike is called the “7 Cascades”, or seven waterfalls, there are 13 in total — all of which you will visit on this tough yet stunning hike.

A great overall trip which met all expectations! Would definitely recommend! The only thing to note that this probably isn't the best for non physically active people as the hike down and up can be a little difficult for those unfit. Our guide Fabrice was fantastic ensuring we had a safe journey down and up and made our trip more enjoyable!

The hike is challenging, but the view at the end is breathtaking! We were a sporty group and finished after 2 hours. Bathing at the foot of a waterfall was very refreshing! However, the tour is not recommended for small children. The hiking is more climbing and sometimes quite steep!

Emlékezetes túra volt! Bár többször is megáztunk, a látványért bőven megérte! Voltak nehezebb szakaszai a túrának, de a vezető odafigyelt mindenkire és segített ezeken a szakaszokon problémamentesen keresztül jutni. A fotók készítésében is készségesen segített. Köszönjük az élményt!

This hike was our highlight of the holiday, breathtaking but also exhausting. Our guide Kevin was very nice, professional and patient. He told us a lot about Mauritius and took great pictures of us, which we then received.

Great hike with a great guide. Thanks to Fabrice for his motivation, good humor and his photography skills. I recommend without hesitation !!!
