2. Mauritius: Tamarind Falls Guided Hike with Lunch
Walk up the striking Tamarind Falls canyon, one of Mauritius' most popular attractions, led by an experienced mountaineer.
Meet your guide at the Henrietta bus station for a safety briefing before you head to the starting point of the hike. The first section of the walk will be through luscious rainforest, including a river crossing where you can choose to relax in a natural jacuzzi. Make sure to keep an eye out for the phenomenal and rare endemic birds, and plants.
Watch the connected waterfalls flowing and listen to the birds chirping as you climb up the canyon’s seven platforms and one rock-scrambling section. Along the way, your guide will tell you historical stories about Mauritius' past, and the significance of these falls.
Pause at the fifth platform to take a dip in the three connected waterfalls’ luscious waters. Take a moment to admire the breath-taking views surrounding you as you comfortably cool down.
Carry on walking up a few steep sections before enjoying a packed lunch while you take in the deep canyon’s scenery beneath you. Try not to let your jaw drop too low as you see the intense beauty and nature Mauritius is so famous for, and make sure to snap some well-deserved photos.
Let the rushing water massage your back under the last waterfall before setting off to reach the summit of the Tamarind Falls. Even though the official name of the hike is called the “7 Cascades”, or seven waterfalls, there are 13 in total — all of which you will visit on this tough yet stunning hike.
