Full description

Walk up the striking Tamarind Falls canyon, one of Mauritius' most popular attractions, led by an experienced mountaineer. Meet your guide at the Henrietta bus station for a safety briefing before you head to the starting point of the hike. The first section of the walk will be through luscious rainforest, including a river crossing where you can choose to relax in a natural jacuzzi. Make sure to keep an eye out for the phenomenal and rare endemic birds, and plants. Watch the connected waterfalls flowing and listen to the birds chirping as you climb up the canyon’s seven platforms and one rock-scrambling section. Along the way, your guide will tell you historical stories about Mauritius' past, and the significance of these falls. Pause at the fifth platform to take a dip in the three connected waterfalls’ luscious waters. Take a moment to admire the breath-taking views surrounding you as you comfortably cool down. Carry on walking up a few steep sections before enjoying a packed lunch while you take in the deep canyon’s scenery beneath you. Try not to let your jaw drop too low as you see the intense beauty and nature Mauritius is so famous for, and make sure to snap some well-deserved photos. Let the rushing water massage your back under the last waterfall before setting off to reach the summit of the Tamarind Falls. Even though the official name of the hike is called the “7 Cascades”, or seven waterfalls, there are 13 in total — all of which you will visit on this tough yet stunning hike.

A once in a lifetime experience that we’ll treasure forever. Kevin was incredible from start to finish. He was kind enough to arrange transport to and from the other side of the island from our hotel, and provide a vegan lunch too. The hike itself did not disappoint and we were blown away by it. We felt safe at all points and Kevin was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, plants and terrain. If you want an authentic hiking experience with breathtaking views and waterfalls then look no further. Thanks again Kevin, we’ll be sure to see you again on our next visit!

We have just returned home from a fantastic Holiday in Mauritius, we booked with get our guide and received Kevin from Horazis. Kevin and the dog Ben were fantastic guides, Absolutely brilliant. We spent 5 hours hiking through the rain forest to various waterfall locations. Kevin looked after us every step of the way with Ben following on behind. He talked us History, native and non native trees and plants, he made sure we were OK every step of the way. We went as a family with two children 10 & 11 and Kevin made it fun and enjoyably for all of us, he took photos we will always have to remember, he offered wild swimming at stops, He made us a very tasty lunch, we saw a section of Mauritius not many tourists see. If we had time we would have hired Kevin again, on our return to Mauritius we will be booking Kevin again for another guided tour.

Great hike with breathtaking views. Kevin, our guide, led us safely through the rainforest over muddy slopes and slippery rocks. The route was very challenging, probably also because of the bad weather, and I would only recommend it for experienced hikers. You should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights and be prepared to get quite wet and muddy. There is hardly any “normal walking”, you climb a lot on stones and need bamboo and trees along the way to avoid slipping in the mud. But Kevin helps through it wonderfully and we (48 & 53, quite sporty) also had a lot of fun climbing. The waterfalls and the view are really big cinema. Clear recommendation for fit people who love nature and have sensible shoes with them
