Full description
On this 7-hour excursion from Tangier you’ll head high up into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, a town with a stunning walled medina, and originally a Berber post. The main square is the heart of Chefchaouen and features a kasbah built in the 18th century, a central mosque, and cafés with authentic Moroccan menus. The busy market offers a mix of traditional Moroccan wares and souvenirs, with some excellent bargains. The town itself is easy to explore. The kasbah, built by Moulay Ismail, is now practically a ruin and located next to it is the great mosque. Although the old medina is small, you’ll find souks offering an array of goods. If you head to the Jewish quarter behind the jewelry souk, you’ll get a feel for the difference in style between it and the main Arab town.

Fantastic day in Chefchaouen

The experience has been very positive from the beginning. We had flexibility with the schedule. The chauffeur service was correct and timely. Highlight the close treatment of our driver Monsif. The excursion is worth it. The city is beautiful. We had the best guide we could have. Many thanks to Abdoul Al Ghafor for his treatment and professionalism. We had a really good time. Great connoisseur of the city. Highly recommended.

A nice day trip!

I did this day trip alone from Tangier. My driver was Monsif and my tour guide was Abdo -- both very very nice and easy going. The drive to Chefchaouen and back is about 2 hours, but it is beautiful. Chefchaouen itself is stunning, and Abdo gave me a lot of information about the city and its history. I asked for the best spots to take photos, and he took me to get some incredible shots. He did take me to a rug store as well, but the store owner was incredibly charismatic and the rugs themselves were beautifully hand-crafted -- definitely worth at least looking at. The day lasted around 3.5 hours, which was plenty for me (since I was by myself). He took me to lunch at a local place (slightly expensive but delicious) where I sat on the top level patio and had a stunning view. On the way there and back, Monsif pulled over for me to take photos whenever I asked as well. Overall a fantastic trip, and I felt safe the entire time.
