Begin the day with a pick-up from your accommodation in a comfortable minivan at around 8:30 AM. The first stop will be in Agrigento. This city used to be the richest of all the Greek colonies.  Admire the beautiful and impressive Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. See some of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world. Pindar, the Greek poet, and writer, described it as one of the most beautiful cities of those inhabited by mortals. The Valley of the Temples is famous for its well-preserved temples, seven in total.  The Temple of Concordia is one of the best preserved Greek temples in the world helping the site to gain the classic UNESCO world heritage award. At the site, visit the remains of many other temples dedicated to various divinities like Juno, Hercules, Hephaestus, and Athena. Next see one of the most amazing beaches in Sicily. A few kilometers away from Agrigento, find the Scala dei Turchi, literally translated to Turkish steps. Discover a dazzling white rock formation, rising from the clear blue sea-like giant steps. Walk this gentle slope, high above the sea on your feet, and enjoy a unique experience. Here, have free time to enjoy one of the most famous beaches in Sicily. Enjoy brunch made of typical Sicilian food with bottles of water, and red local wine. Arrive back in Catania in the early evening, at around 7:00 PM.

Cefalu: Agrigento Temples and Scala dei Turchi Day Tour

2. Cefalu: Agrigento Temples and Scala dei Turchi Day Tour

Let be surrounded by architectural treasures, the Valley of the Temples is amongst the most evocative sites of the Greek world and one of the most important complexes outside the Greece. We will visit the temples which stand on the high ridge overlooking the sea, walking the Sacred Way, and discovering the magnificence of the Concordia Temple, which was converted in a Christian church in the 6th century and because of that spared from much of the devastation which afflicted the site over the centuries. You will walk between the Temple of Zeus ruins, the largest temple built by the Greeks, destroyed to build the harbor of the near town of Porto Empedocle. Named as one of the 10 wonderfully unique beach by Tripadvisor, Scala dei Turchi’s cliff rises between two fine sandy beaches, and to access it you have to proceed along the coast and climb into an ascent similar to a large natural limestone staircase. The Scala dei Turchi has a wavy and irregular shape, with lines that are not rough but sweet and roundish. The name comes from the past raids of Saracens pirates, named conventionally by locals as “Turchi" (Turkish), these pirates in fact found this site as a safer landing place for their ships, saving them from the beating of the hammering African winds, compared to the rest of the southern coastline.

It was great had a blast. The wait of the line for the Tempels was over 45 minutes we wasted time in the line and didn't have enough time to see all the Temples.we were given only 2 h for the Temples After that we had to rush everything the rest of the tour..so stressful. The locations were gorgeous. But the ticket situation has to be handeld differently. I think the tour company can buy the tickets in advance for the group this way the group doenst have to stay in line forever. ..

We were picked up on time from we stayed ( a long way from the city centre ) by our very friendly driver, Antonio. We had three interesting stops to visit the Villa Romana del Casale with its beautiful mosaics, the Turkish steps where we had a dip in the warm water and the Valley of the Temples, so beautiful to look at, especially at sundown and a very tasty and generous lunch in Piazza Armenina.

The tour is amazing!! Perfectly timed and planned- the tour guide Iorga explained us so much about history as he had a vast academic background and was very kind! The Valley of the temples is absolutely impressive and the beach in the Turkey steps is paradise!
