2-Hour Hamburg Port Tour: Maritime Flair
- Duration: 2 hours
Enjoy the unique maritime flair and colorful crowds at the Port of Hamburg on this daily tour of the docks. Find out just how huge the Port of Hamburg is — the second-largest port in Europe. Hardly another city in the world is so tied to its port; Hamburg truly developed because of it. The most important sights and the skyline are inextricably linked to it. Experience the contrast between past and present, commerce and culture, the little fishing town along the Elbe and the state-of-the-art container complexes, sinful stretches and the fish market, old cutters, and massive cruise and container ships. Discover this gateway to the world up-close onboard a little ship, equally suited to a fleet.
A visit to Hamburg without a tour through the harbor is almost unthinkable. No other city in Europe has more bridges than Hamburg, not even Venice. Approximately 2,400 structures cross over the waterways, canals, and harbor basin. Climb aboard the boat and explore the various attractions in the city, depending on the tide and the time of day. Admire the historical Speicherstadt (warehouse district) with its narrow waterways, the modern HafenCity, the numerous bridges over the Elbe River, busy locks and container terminals, the large Blohm and Voss shipyard, the Köhlbrand Bridge, and much more. Along the way, learn interesting facts about the city and its history as well as the incoming and outgoing ships. Simply sit back and enjoy the fantastic views from the water.
It was very nice, i appreciated the option of having an English guide on a phone from the company. But the German guide from the speakers was extremely loud

If you want to see where the heart of Hamburg beats, you have to take to the water. That's why the Alster and harbor tours are integral components of the sightseeing tour. Allow yourself to be whisked off into the secrets of the maritime world by a humorous 'harbor expert' on board the barge, and enjoy the sight of the magnificent villas and Hanseatic way of life during your Alster tour.
Printable tickets are not good when you are on the road and booking events. Even had the tickets e mailed to the hotel but never arrived. Luckily the bus driver was nice enough to type in the confirmation numbers into their system and than issue us tickets.

The market is open every Sunday morning and if you can get yourself up at dawn (or if you're still taking advantage of the infamous nightlife, of course), it's well worth getting to the market early. Not only will you find the freshest produce and have the opportunity of buying fish straight off the boat, but the sight of the sun rising over the water is simply spectacular.
It's good to note that since the Fish Market is below sea level, it can get flooded when the weather is particularly stormy. Either don a pair of rubber boots or come back during fairer weather.
