Kathmandu: 13-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek

1. Kathmandu: 13-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is still without doubt one of the best treks anywhere in the world, despite inroads being developed in the region. It is a trek of diverse culture that starts in the lush fields of Hindu farmers and takes you through one of the strongest Buddhist regions in Nepal, which is very similar to Tibet. The complete circuit starting from Besisahar takes between 18 and 21 days. Over the last few years, access to each of the major valleys that cut through the Himalayas to the east and west of the Annapurna Massif improves each year, as more sections of Jeep road are completed. Throughout your experience, your guides will make every effort to take this into account, allowing you to avoid hiking on the road as much as you can. Nowadays many people trekking the route choose to fly back to Pokhara from Jomsom or take a jeep to Baglung and a bus back to Pokhara. The Manang Valley is one of many reasons to choose this trekking route, offering a journey over the Thorong La at 5,416 meters. It is spectacular on a clear day, and awards views of the neighboring peaks around you. The full circuit will see you continue on past Jomsom to take a jeep ride for a day to Tatopani and the hot springs. There you can relax before continuing on to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, a part of the trek which has no road. Whatever you choose you will have climbed over the Annapurna Massif, lapped up more culture than you can imagine, and trekked through one of the most beautiful valleys anywhere in the world. At the conclusion of your experience, you will result back in Kathmandu, ready to fly to your next destination.

Kathmandu: 20-Day Tilicho Lake Trek

2. Kathmandu: 20-Day Tilicho Lake Trek

Following two days in Katmandu, the trek starts from Besisahar and follows the Marshyangdi River. These first few days will offer some great views of Manaslu and Himal Chuli to the east. You will then trek through villages inhabited by a wide diversity of people from different ethnic groups, with the trail offering spectacular views of the snow-clad Himalayas. This customized route is basically the same as Annapurna Circuit from Manang, but instead of taking the valley north to Tanki Manang and Yak Kharka, this route traverses the main valley to the west passing through Khanshar Village (the last village of Nepal). Before trekking up to Tilicho Lake, you’ll stop in Yak Kharka then up to the high pass of Thorung La, at an elevation of 5,416 meters. From the pass of Thorung La, the trek leads down to Muktinath then to Jomsom from where a 35-minute scenic flight takes you to Pokhara. Your tour will later conclude with you flying from Pokhara back to Kathmandu, where you will have a final overnight before the conclusion of your experience.
