After being picked up from your hotel in the local area or Park Entrance you will enter Yala National Park to explore the light forests, scrubs, grasslands, lagoons, and magnificent range of animals. With your private 4WD Jeep and expert guide, the ‘Golden Hours’ of the day will be used to focus on leopard spotting, either the first 2 hours or the last 2 hours of the day. Throughout this safari, you will search for the world’s most concentrated number of leopards, sloth bears, and elephants, as your knowledgable guide and driver expertly navigates the vast area and roads. You will be picked up from your hotel in Yala or Tissamaharama by Beyond Escapes team and driven to starting point of the cycling tour. On arrival at Tissamaharama, your very own cycling guide will give you a brief introduction about this tour and safety requirements. You will cycle through The Village of Magampura and arrive to Kirinda passing some wonderful countryside scenery. At the end of the cycling tour You will be transferred back to your Hotel or drop-off location in Yala or Tissamaharama.

Head out onto Tissa Lake in a boat and watch the sunset. Cruise around for a couple of hours admiring the scenery and taking some fantastic pictures before settling down on the beach for dinner and drinks. First, get picked up from your hotel in Yala or Tissamaharama in a tuk-tuk and be driven to the starting point of your cycling tour. When you arrive, get kitted out with a bike and helmet and listen as your very own cycling guide gives you a quick safety briefing. Then, set off together as you cycle through the village of Magampura. Pass through scenic fishing villages, around the lakes, and through wonderful countryside until you arrive in the village of Kirinda. As you explore off-the-beaten-path locations, get a real sense of what village life is like for the local people that call this beautiful rural area home.  Finally, at the end of the cycling tour, hop back into the tuk-tuk and be transferred back to your hotel where the tour concludes.

Embark on a fascinating tour of Yala's temples and learn about the rituals, beliefs, and culture of southern Sri Lanka. Discover the architecture, paintings, and history of Tissamaharama Raja Maha Viharaya, Kirinda Vihara Maha Devi Temple, Sithulpawwa, and Kiri Vehera. Get picked up from your hotel and head toward Tissamaharama Raja Maha Viharaya, one of the major monasteries in Sri Lanka. It is believed that this vihara was created by Lord Buddha himself with 500 other individuals who reached enlightenment. Drive to Kirinda and explore Kirinda Vihara Maha Devi Temple. Hear about the site's long, interesting history from your guide. The temple provides magnificent views of the sand dunes, the Kirinda fishing harbor, and the Indian Ocean. Sithulpawwa is an ancient Buddhist monastery dating back to the 2nd century B.C. and is located deep within the heart of Yala national park. Leopard and elephant sightings and the chatters of birds will serve as a gentle reminder that you are walking in the wild. The monastery complex hosts a cave with paintings over 2,000 years old and a temple atop a resident rock that rises above the surrounding wilderness. You are welcome to meditate here for a while and soothe your mind. Head to Kataragama and visit Kiri Vehera, a 6th-century B.C. ancient stupa believed to be built by King Mahasena. It is thought that this was built on the ground where Lord Buddha meditated. Return to your pickup point.

Get picked up by a tuk-tuk from your hotel in Yala or Tissamaharama by your local guide, then set off towards the starting point for your village tour. Start the route by riding around the beautiful lakes where you can stop at scenic locations to capture the breath-taking views. Keep your eyes peeled for monitor lizards and different bird species. Then, proceed to a local pottery where you can witness how clay pots are made. Make your own clay pot on a traditional wheel and take it back as a souvenir. Next, head over to see how curd is made in Tissamaharama. Discover how curd making is one of the main livelihoods of people here and meet a lady in her village house who will teach you the secrets of making a delicious curd pot. At the end of the demonstration, enjoy a tasting of fresh curd with honey.  Finally, be driven back to your hotel where you will be dropped off and your village tour concludes.
