7. Rhodes: Private tour to Tsambika bay, Prasonisi & Acropolis
Embark on a scenic drive along the East Coast. Explore three of the most popular locations of Rhodes island: The sandy beach of Tsambika, the exotic Prasonisi Beach and the Acropolis of Rhodes. An experienced driver will pick you up from your place, and following the East Coast, will drive towards to our 1st stop: the sandy beach of Tsambika. Located below the hills that the monastery and the church of the miraculus Virgin Tsambika are located, about 25 Km far from Rhodes town, Tsambika beach is a idyllic stretch of golden sand and turquoise waters. Tsambika Beach offers dozens of colorful beach facilities and a range of water sports for the more daring visitors. But, if you're after a more laid-back experience, you'll appreciate the friendly vibe and ample amenities offered in the wider region. As you lounge on the bright white sand of Tsambika Beach, you'll be enchanted by the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you. The 240m high rock, on which a white chapel is enthroned, rises above the beach, offering a sense of awe-inspiring beauty. To reach the chapel, you'll need to traverse a steep road and then an equally steep stairway, but the view from the top is well worth the effort. The 2nd stop is the exotic region of Prasonisi. This is the place where Aegean Sea meets the Mediteranean Sea. The uniqueness of Prasonisi lies in the fact that depending on the season, it is an island or peninsula. In the summer, when the water level is low, a sandy spit looms out and Prasonisi becomes a peninsula attached to Rhodes. This spit is the sandy Prasonisi Beach. During the winter though as the water level gets higher, this true sandy paradise disappears under the sea and Prasonisi becomes an island again. At the left side of Prasonisi beach there are sunbeds and calm crystal clear waters for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. Our next stop is one of the farming villages of Kattavia or Lachania. Kattavia village, who took its name from its 1st inhabitant called "Kattavos" is famous for its bean called "Lopi". It's a kind of bean that is soft and sweet and it's produced only in Kattavia, as the clima there is the appropriate to farm this delicious beans' variety. Lachania, is a beautiful traditional farming village which due to its geographical position the village has a panoramic view. A place fertile rich in flora and fauna, with white houses, blue details and lacy blue beaches that make up a picturesque scenery. In the center of the village one can see old mills, Italian laundries and fountains waiting to cool down passers-by. The Holy Church of Agios Georgios, built in 1848, dominates there, while next to it excavations brought to light the ruins of a small Mycenaean castle. Gastronomy lovers are suggested to enjoy local dishes under the shade of the old plane tree while enjoying the tranquility. Returning to the city of Rhodes, we stop at the Acropolis to sea the ruins of the temple of Apollon and for enjoying the stunning view to the Aegean sea.
