2. From Turin: food and wine guided tour in Canavese

This 1-day tour takes you on a discovery of Canavese, the borderland at the foot of the Alps of the Piedmont region, a natural gateway between the Italian peninsula and Europe. This region was a crossroad for armies, merchants, and pilgrims tracing the routes of the Via Salaria and Via Francigena through the valley of Mont Blanc and Graie Alps reaching Turin, the capital of the Savoy Reign and the first Italian capital. This land of lakes, hills, forests, and castles is protected by the Serra Morenica, one of the largest morainic hills in the world. The Canavese cuisine has distinct flavors including cured meats and Alpine pasture cheeses, “Capònet” rolls of savoy cabbage with meat, stuffed onions with amaretto, “Ajucche” wild herb soup served with bread, and “Bagna Caòda”; the distinguished anchovy sauce served as a dip for crudités. All of this is just a taste of what awaits you on this tour. Detailed Itinerary: Noon: Guided tour in one of the castles of the Canavese region. What people are saying about Turin

My host was Rossana in Turin, the location in the center was very central and easy to reach by public transport. The 4 courses were sensationally delicious, I was allowed to prepare the dishes myself. She and Rafael (translator) were very friendly hosts. I can really only recommend everyone to book this course. Thanks Michael

We were warmly welcomed into an unpretentious home. It was helpful to have an English speaking person to help with the translation. The food was simply outstanding! The level of participation in the food prep was just right. We will never eat packaged pasta again. A pasta maker is in our future.

Wonderful 2 hour tour. We do not see the time passing, we discover superb houses and we learn a lot of things in a very natural way. Many thanks to our guide, Marina, who was fantastic! I highly recommend this activity for a discovery of Turin from a slightly different but very enriching angle.

Great dinner at a local Torinese family’s house. The Cesarina’s son and his girlfriend as well as her husband were present. Most of them spoke some English so the evening was easy and the meal delicious. A highly worthwhile experience

We had a very nice and competent companion through the evening and thus got a nice impression of the city. Food and drinks were great.
