1. From Tel Aviv: Self-Guided Akko Day Tour by Train & Tastings
Take yourself on a self-guided adventure and travel by train from Tel Aviv along the beautiful Meditareann Sea to Akko. Once you arrive at Akko Station, use your public transport pass on the bus or stroll until you reach the old town of Akko. First, pick up your combo tickets at the Akko Visitor's Center and get some local tips from the staff. Then, you will be fully equipped for a day of exploration. Visit the famous Knight Halls and pick up an audio guide to learn about the crusaders who conquered the port city over 1,000 years ago. Continue to the 18th-century Turkish bath, Hamam al-Basha, where you will learn from your audio guide about the location's importance to the locals. Walk through the colorful bazaar to the famous Templar Tunnel and learn who built this exit to the sea and how they constructed it. You can also visit the Okashi Museum for Japanese art or the Treasures in the Walls Museum, which details the history of immigrants from the 19th century. Then, take the time to stroll around the old town market and sample great local food. When you have enjoyed Akko and the sea to the fullest, take the train back to Tel Aviv.
