1. From Santiago: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar Day Tour

Starting from your hotel in Santiago, meet your guide and travel 120 km to the Pacific Ocean through the Curacavi Valley where you will have the chance to see diverse scenery. On the road, stop in the typical hostelry Millahue for the chance to taste the typical Chilean drink, the "chicha". Arrive in Valparaiso and admire the amazing houses on the hills. Take a sightseeing tour of Victoria Square, Sotomayor Square, the naval heroes monument, and the May 21st Lookout. Take a walk into the hills, using 1 or 2 elevators or explore the bay area. Next stop in Viña del Mar, the city known as the Garden City. Explore some remarkable locations in the resort town including the floral clock, the Casino, and Reñaca beach where you'll have time to stop for lunch at your own expense. After lunch, spend a bit more free time to enjoy relaxing on the beach. Finally, before taking the coast road back to Santiago, stop at the Quinta Vergara, a place known for the international song festival. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Santiago.

Pacific Treasures: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar Private Tour

2. Pacific Treasures: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar Private Tour

No trip to Chile is complete without visiting the colorful coastal cities of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. Your tour begins with hotel pickup followed by an hour and a half drive to the Chilean coastline. Start the drive along the coast in Concón, known for its seaside restaurants and surf shops. Pass by the impressive Concón Sand Dunes with their panoramic views of Valparaiso Harbor. The tour continues past the popular beach town of Reñaca, where you can usually spot sea lions lying on the coastal rocks. Then, drive through Viña del Mar, Chile’s “Garden City,” where you will see the city’s landmarks, including the Flower Clock and Casino, a “Moai” statue from Easter Island, as well as the city’s pristine beaches. Afterward, reach your main destination, Plaza Sotomayor, the heart of Valparaiso. Then, take an old funicular up to Concepcion and Alegre Hills. Bohemian and colorful, Valparaiso’s maze of hills has long inspired poets and writers. YDiscover something new at every turn – a gem of a building, a remarkable art gallery, or a little gastronomic ‘find.’ Revel in the architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage City. Stroll along its narrow streets, climb its endless staircases, and enjoy panoramic views from its many lofty lookout points.

What people are saying about Valparaíso

The bus arrived on time for the pick-up and the tour of Valparaiso (“Valpo” according to our guide, as the Chileans will shorten anything they can) was interesting - particularly the street art. You do need to be able to walk down steps for this part of the tour. Unfortunately, 2 members of the group went AWOL (no fault of the guide), so we lost some time waiting for them and our tour of Vina was somewhat curtailed. Our driver also had to take a diversion on the way back to avoid the road closures in Santiago.

We had a wonderful day with our tour guide Romi and driver who went out of their way to make sure the day was a success. Both Romi and driver were more than flexible, altering the tour to suit the group based on a consensual decision. Romi has an excellent command of English, great sense of humour and very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour, Romi and our driver (whose name escapes me).

Very enjoyable day out. Lots of information from a very knowledgeable guide. Walking tour of a hilly area of Valparaiso with some wonderful street art. Lunch on the beach in Viña del Mar was very good and on the way back to Santiago a stop at a vineyard with stunning views and even more stunning wines!

We were picked up from our hotel on time, then our guide joined us. We were the only guests and the guide told us a lot about the country and its people. He answered all of our questions and accompanied us perfectly through the day. Everything was beautiful, we would book it again and again.

Joseph and Francisco were awesome! Fantastic locations, good food and the guides were incredibly hospitable and always happy to answer any questions
