Full description

Experience a different side of Venice when you get to know three unique islands in the Venetian Lagoon. This full-day excursion will reveal the lifestyles and traditions of Murano, Burano and Torcello.

Board a comfortable motorboat in the St. Mark's area and jet off for the island of Murano. Here you'll have 1.5 hours to explore on your own.

Choose to visit a factory producing the world-famous Murano glass, learn about how the masters create intricate pieces, and witness a glass-blowing demonstration. Save time to see the massive Basilica of Santi Maria e Donato, one of the oldest Venetian churches built in the 7th century.

Next the motorboat will zip over to Burano Island, where you'll have 1.5 hours to snap pictures of the colorful fisherman houses. It's said that the local fisherman painted their houses in bright colors to help find their way home from the sea. Burano is also known for its rare artisanal lace.

The final island for the day is Torcello, the first settlement in the Venetian Lagoon. Use your 1-hour unguided stop to explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria Dell'Assunta, founded in 639, climb the Bell Tower for a beautiful picture from above, and take a photo with Attila's Throne.

It's time to return to Venice. Board the motorboat and simply relax as you enjoy the ride back across the Venetian lagoon.

In itself it was nice. It was just a pity that you were simply left standing in front of the boat between the stops. Not exactly pleasant when you already have pretty bad pain in your legs. Maybe you think about the times you spend on the individual islands. We found it good that there were display boards showing when you had to go back and where you had to go. Big plus for that. We would have wished for a little more information.

It was a wonderful experience. Glad that we booked this activity. The tour was nice - but the start of the activity experience was not so good and needs some attention. As you know, Venice is a busy place, and when activity was started we were to go (cover quite distance from meeting spot) to where the boat was anchored. The guide did not have any flag sign nor did she slowed down to ensure that crowd is with her. She simply dashed from the meeting spot towards the boat. I literary was able to make it by following tall folks in our group whom I can see where there going among other Venice tourists. Without them, I may have missed where did the guide go. This needs attention as Venice is a very busy place and less space to walk.

The tour made it easy to explore the islands. All transportation was handled very clearly. However, there wasn’t much time on each island, so be precise about what you want to do. I wish there was more time on Murano; I only had the time for some shopping. However, if you’re looking for a quick glimpse at the islands without having to worry about booking the water boats or timetables, then I highly recommend the tour.
