Venice: Traveling Opera in a Historic Palace on Grand Canal

6. Venice: Traveling Opera in a Historic Palace on Grand Canal

Experience Italian Opera in one of the most important Venetian-Gothic style palaces in Venice, Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto. Within this historical venue, an innovative approach to opera has been conceived, with a formula that focuses on the interaction between the singers, the musicians, and the audience. This gives spectators the feeling of living Opera ‘from the inside’. This sensation is amplified by the clever 360-degree use of the ‘stage’ and by having the guests move through 3 different rooms within the Palazzo, one for each act of the show. The whole setting changes, not just the background. Reviving a tradition dating back to the late 1800s, this reimagining is brought to life by some of the finest lyrical voices, accompanied by a talented small group of strings and a piano: a virtuoso ensemble who performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Opera offered: • La Traviata - Melodrama in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi (Mon - Tue - Thu - Sat) • Il Barbiere di Siviglia - Light-hearted melodrama in two acts by Gioachino Rossini (Wed - Sun) • Rigoletto - Intense drama about love and vengeance by Giuseppe Verdi (Fri)

What people are saying about Venice

This was a little difficult to find, but once we were there, nothing but fabulous from start to finish. The singing was incredible along with the dancers and pianist. The food kept coming. We couldn’t believe how many courses we had. I had vegetarian and husband had meat, both were impressive. The venue even called a taxi for us at the end. Please expect this to be a long evening, and a little warm, so advise to take a fan. Well worth the money and would visit again

Outstanding service! They exceeded our expectations! Not only was the taxi driver 15 minutes early at our hotel, when we arrived at the airport we had two amazing women help us with our luggage into the airport to show us wear to go for baggage check in and gate check in. They also guided me to where I could get a tax return! 5 stars 1st class service!!! I will definitely use them for all my future international travels!

You won't find a better guide than Sebastian. Very friendly and a huge amount of knowledge of the area and the culture. He brought us to two very unique and different vineyards. Could not recommend this tour enough

A fabulous trip, more prosecco and wine that we could possibly drink and the food was amazing. All staff on board very friendly and efficient. A must for anyone who visits Venice!

Absolutely loved the experience. Our host was so kind. She taught us so much, and the food was AMAZING!!! I would highly recommend.
