Stroll over to Campo Santa Maria Formosa to admire the church of SS. Giovanni e Paolo and its famous Pantheon. Next, go to the Scuola Grande di San Marco, also knowns as the “Great School of Charity” whose members ((Captains of Fortune) included some of the great Italian explorers of the 15th century. Head back to Piazza San Marco to admire the Teatro Malibran, once the "biggest, most beautiful and richest theatre in the city." Walk down the shopping street of Le Mercerie to see the boutiques of top designers in what was once the pulsing heart of the city's commercial life. Along the way, wander the small alleys known as “calli” and discover picturesque squares where Venetians still gather to conduct their everyday social lives. Find hidden gems and learn interesting facts about the "Serenissima" and its everlasting story. Then, skip the long lines to the Doge’s Palace and explore one of the most important symbols of Venice. As the seat of Venetian political power for centuries, the majestic rooms contain hundreds of masterpieces of art that will take your breath away. Next, enter the beautiful Byzantine monument of St. Mark's Basilica and learn about Saint Mark and how his ruins came to rest here. See stunning mosaics of gold and marble inlays, and learn the history of the architectural masterpiece and its priceless treasures. We had booked Vendig for 3 nights. One day was planned for the culture / sightseeing, so we chose this tour from the multitude of options. This tour was the most expensive, but we have no regrets. The tour was carried out very informatively, without agitation, always with the guests in view, not that anyone could get lost in the bustle. Elisabeth was the name of the blond-haired woman. provided seats to catch his breath, was always available for questions and not only told well-known facts, but also always very interesting facts about history / technology and people from / in Venice. With the expert view of the years of experience of a German living in Vendig, we were repeatedly pointed out things that we would not have seen otherwise. e.g. in MarkusDom: the view from the chaired area of the altar and Christ (own restricted area)

We chose the 4 hour tour which started with a tour of the area around San Marco Square followed by a tour of the Doge's Palace (other people joined our group) and then we went to the Basilica San Marco. Our guide Barbara is passionate about Venice and communicates her passion. If you want to quickly visit the two major monuments of Venice, do not hesitate to book this visit, skip-the-line ticket for the Basilica included essential.

very informative but not too dry; excellent guide

The guide was very personable, open and friendly - she found the right balance between information and anecdotes and thus showed a very vivid picture of the past and present of Venice, in which many details really stick. The division into a walk and San Marco & Doge's Palace was great. Above all, I enjoyed the small group, so you could really ask a lot of questions. It was also good that the tour took place so early, then there weren't that many people in the piazzo and in the church. It was extremely courteous that we could exceptionally cancel a ticket at very short notice due to illness of a participant.
